<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Ns!! and carried, the Purchasing Agent
<br />was authorized to advertise for bids on Plant Mix, Specification 488-8; bids to be
<br />opened August 18, 1958.

<br />On motion of Counci]m,~ Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the written recom-
<br />mendation of the Man,ger, dated July 21, 1958, for salary step increases for two
<br />employees effective August l, 1958, was approved.

<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, proper officials were
<br />authorized to ex~cute agreement dated August 4, 1958 with the County of Orange per-
<br />taining to the construction of curb a,~ gutter on Harbor Boulevard between Delhi
<br />
<br />Road and Baker Street.

<br />Street, asked what the requirements are on the size of electrical signs, particularly
<br />with reference to the Weber Baking Company sign to be erected on their property near
<br />the Freeway. Mrs. Walker presented pictures showing the unsightly north entrance
<br />to the City and requested the Council to beautify the triangular piece of property
<br />owned by the City adjacent to the Southern Pacific HaLlway Company tracks.

<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Na~ and carried, the Attorney was
<br />,granted permission to leav~ the City and State from August 6 to August 17, 1958.
<br />On motion of Counc~!men Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the copy of Minute
<br />Order from the Board of Supervisors instructing the County Counsel to prepare an
<br />application to the City for the abandonment of North Birch Street from Sixth Street
<br />to Eighth Street, and Resolution requesting the ahamionment of said street, were
<br />received and filed. The Council having ,,~nimously waived the reading of the
<br />
<br />Resolution, on motion of Counctlm~ Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the fol-
<br />lowing Resolution entitled:
