RESOLUTION NO. 79-9 <br />PAGE TWO <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Mrs. Weston Walker instituted a citywide "Arbor <br /> Day" tree planting program in Santa Ana in 1969; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Mrs. Weston Walker greatly assisted in establishing <br />the old County of Orange Courthouse as a California <br />State historical landmark in Santa Ana, in 1970; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Mrs. Weston Walker also was of significant assistance <br />in establishing the City of Santa Ana's Birch Park <br />as a designated California Point of Historical <br />Interest; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Mrs. Weston Walker was and is a driving force in the <br />preservation of the Howe-Waffle House as part of <br />Santa Ana's Heritage Plaza; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Mrs. Weston Walker has been honored for her dedica- <br />tion to civic beautification and historical preserva- <br />tion by two Santa Ana Mayors, the Orange County Board <br />of Supervisors, the former Santa Ana Globe Newspaper, <br />Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce, the Santa Ana Parent <br />Teachers Association Council, the California Garden <br />Club, the California Recreation Society, the Sea and <br />Sage Audubon Society, the Orange County Historical <br />Society, the Orange County Chapter of the American <br />Institute of Architects, the Orange County Clean-up <br />and Beautification Committee, the Santa Ana Girl <br />Scouts, and the Golden City Awards Committee, and <br />others; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Mrs. Weston Walker, after <br /> over thirty years of continuous dedicated volunteer <br /> community service to the City of Santa Ana in civic <br /> beautification, conservation, historical preservation, <br /> community activism, and civic generosity, is to be <br /> extolled, lauded, applauded, commended and praised <br /> for her dedication to the City of Santa Ana and its <br /> citizens, by the unanimous vote of the City Council <br /> of the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br />ADOPTED this 5th day of February, 1979, by the following vote: <br /> <br /> AYES, COUNCILMEN: Brandt, Bricken, Evans, Garthe, <br /> Ortiz, Ward, Yamamoto <br /> <br />NOES, COUNCILMEN: None <br /> <br />ABSENT, <br /> <br />MAYOR <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />CLERK OF THE COUN~L ~ <br /> <br />CITY ATTORNEY <br /> <br /> <br />
