<br />RESOLUTION NO. 79-59
<br />
<br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
<br /> CITY OF SANTA ANA STATING AND DECLARING
<br />THE RESULTS OF THE CANVASS OF THE
<br />CONSOLIDATED GENERAL AND SPECIAL MUNICIPAL
<br /> ELECTIONS HELD IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA,
<br /> CALIFORNIA, ON APRIL 3, 1979.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, by
<br />Ordinance NS-1468, duly called for and provided for the
<br />holding of a general municipal election on April 3, 1979, to
<br />fill vacancies in public office; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, by
<br />Ordinance NS-1471, duly called for and provided for the
<br />holding of a special municipal election on April 3, 1979, to
<br />fill a vacancy for an unexpired term in public office; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, by
<br />Ordinance NS-1473, duly called for and provided for the
<br />holding of a special municipal election on April 3, 1979,
<br />for the submission of a charter amendment relating to
<br />revenue and taxation; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, notices of said elections, notices of nominees
<br />for public office, and notices of the election officers and
<br />polling places were regularly given in time, form and manner
<br />as provided by law; the sample ballots, the statements
<br />submitted by the candidates for public office, and the
<br />arguments submitted for and against the proposed charter
<br />amendmentwhich is set out in "Exhibit B" attached hereto
<br />and made a part hereof, were regularly mailed to all
<br />electors within the City; and said elections on said date
<br />were duly held at the polling places designated and the
<br />votes cast thereat were canvassed and the returns thereof
<br />made in the time, manner, and form provided by law; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, on the 10th day of April, 1979, the City
<br />Council of the City of Santa Ana has duly assembled at its
<br />usual place of meeting, the returns of said elections having
<br />been canvassed by the Clerk of the Council pursuant to
<br />Resolution No. 79-4.

<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Santa
<br />Ana does hereby resolve, determine, and order as follows:
<br />
<br /> That the general and special municipal elections were
<br />duly held on April 3, 1979, and the votes cast thereat were
<br />duly and regularly canvassed and the returns thereof made in
<br />the time, form, and manner required; that all things were
<br />regularly done as required by law; that the absent voter
<br />ballots were duly canvassed and counted as required by law,
<br />and the results of such countare hereinafter set forth on
<br />"Exhibit A", attached hereto and made a part hereof; that
<br />the Clerk of the Council has duly canvassed the. returns of
<br />said election and from the said returns, it appears, and the
<br />City Council finds, that the total number of votes cast in
<br />each precinct for each person and the proposed charter
<br />amendment, the number of votes cast in the City to each
<br />person and the charter amendment, the whole number of votes
<br />cast in the City, and the total number of absentee votes
<br />cast3 in'the City, are as set forth on "Exhibit A," attached
<br />hereto and made a part hereof.
