Gould, Jr. <br /> <br />The Pledge of ~llegiance was given. <br /> <br />As Reverend George Busdiecker did not appear to give the invocation, <br />the meeting was opened with a silent prayer. <br /> <br />Each member of the City Council having received copies of the Minutes <br />of December 15, 1958 and December 29, 1958, reading of the Minutes was <br />dispensed with and approved on motion of Counc~lm~n Hubbard, seconded <br />by Hall and carried. <br /> <br />Variance Appl. No. 1042 <br />G. Howard Robertshaw <br /> <br />Councilm-n Gould arrived at 7:35 P.M. <br /> <br />Cozmmmication was read from the Pl-~ning ~ission reqommending approval of <br /> <br />Variance Application No. 1042 filed by G. Howard Robertshaw to permit construction <br /> <br />Bid acceptance <br />Six trucks and <br />two four-door <br />sedans <br /> <br />of an .apartment building to be one-story and limited to 14 single-bedroom units on <br />property situated at 705 West Delhi Road, in R-1 District, subject to conditions, <br />instead of a two-story 16-unit apartment building, with adequate parking and drive- <br />way area and swfmmtng pool. ~rs. P. H. Hubbard, 2243 South Patton Street, orally <br />referred to the petition signed by 53 persons filed with the Planning Commission, <br />protesting against the construction of the apartment house due to the increase in <br />traffic, it would be detrimental to the health and safety of the residents in the <br />area, the sewer lines are inadequate, and twelve persons have homes which would bac~ <br />up to the Washington School. The applicant spoke in defense of his application <br />and stated the apartment house would upgrade the neighborhood, the property has 148 <br />foot frontage and 175 feet 4ep~h, and in accordance with the new proposed Ordinance, <br />it would be possible to develop 22 units; the plan which is proposed is a two-story <br />building consisting of 12 one-bedroom and 4-two bedroom units, with sw!,~iag pool <br />and adequate off-street parking area. Heinly <br />None <br /> <br />It was moved by Councflm-u Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, that Variance <br /> <br />Application No. 1042, as recommended by the P]~-ning Commission be granted with the <br /> <br />stipulation that the building be limited to 14 single-bedroom units of the size <br /> <br />mentioned in the Application (20' x 28'), that no'structures exceed one-story in <br /> <br />height, that l~parking stalls be provided for each unit and subject to conditions <br /> <br />of the Department of Public Works. <br /> <br />Roll Call Ayes, Councilmen <br /> Noes, Councilmen <br /> Absent, Councilmen <br /> <br />Royal E.
