<br />On motion of Counct~m~r, Hubbard, seconded, by GOuld and carried, the following
<br />Ordinance entitled:
<br />
<br /> "Ordinance establishing the prima facie speed limit on portions
<br /> of King Street and Lyon Street"
<br />
<br />w~s introduced, considered and placed on file for second reading.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the request of
<br />approximately thirteen residents in the 1400 block South Baker Street was ~enied
<br />that a survey be conducted by the Traffic Division to determine parking facilities
<br />for students driving cars to Mater Del High School and that "No School Parking" signs
<br />be placed in the 1400 block of South Baker Street; the Clerk was instructed to advise
<br />the first signer on the petition of Council action. Andrew Bey~r, 1437 South
<br />Baker Street, stated the students from Mater Dei High School park in front of
<br />residances in the area neighboring the school w~en there is adequate parking around
<br />the school, creating a hardship on the residents of the area. It was moved by
<br />Councilm~n Gould, seconded by Hall and carried, that the Mayor be instructed to write
<br />a letter to the Father at the Mater Del High School requesting him to ask the co='
<br />operation of the students to park around the school and not in the neighboring area.
<br />On recommendation of the Department of Public Works and on motion of Councilman
<br />Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the request of the Standard 0il Company was
<br />granted to eliminate two 20-foot approaches and install one approach approximately
<br />80-feet long, .being 'the full length of the property at Tenth and Main Streets.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilm~n Hall, seconded by GOuld and carried, the request of William
<br />D. Greschner Company was granted for two 40-foot driveways and one 20-foot driveway
<br />at the Medical Arts Center, 17th and Lincoln Streets, in accordance with condition
<br />No. 2 of Variance Application No. 1047 granted December 15, 1958.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilm~u Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the plans and
<br />specifications w~re approved for the widening of North Main Street from 7th to 15th
<br />Streets and from 18th Street to the Freeway.
<br />
<br />It was moved by Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hal ] and carried, that a payment,
<br />
<br />as a retainer fee, in the sum of $1100.00 to Attorney Robert S. Barnes, be approved
<br />pursuant to agreement entered into March 16, 1959, in the matter of McClurkin versus
<br />the City of Garden Grove.
