KLG:ar <br />10/29/79 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 79- 199 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA DESIGNATING UNITED WAY OF ORANGE <br /> COUNTY NORTH/SOUTH AS THE SINGLE AGENCY TO <br /> CONDUCT THE 1979-80 CHARITABLE FUND DRIVE <br /> AMONG THE CITY OF SANTA ANA EMPLOYEES <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council adopted its Resolution <br />No. 79-172 on October 1, 1979, in which it established cri- <br />teria to determine the selection of a single combined fund <br />drive among employees of the City of Santa Ana; and and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, United Way of Orange County North/South <br />has conducted charitable solicitation drives among employees <br />of the City of Santa Ana for the past eight years, and has <br />submitted a letter of application to the city manager, which <br />includes an agreement to abide by applicable provisions of <br />Section 663, Title II, California Administrative Code, en- <br />titled "Payroll Deductions for Charitable Contributions," <br />and has agreed to file a letter of application with the <br />Clerk of the Council by September 30 of each year hereafter, <br />requesting renewal of said application; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, United Way of Orange County North/South <br />has provided the following responses to the criteria estab- <br />lished by said Resolution No. 79-172: <br /> <br /> A. "United Way currently provides funding to 22 <br />agencies located within the City of Santa Ana; additionally, <br />funding is also provided to 19 other other human services <br />not located in Santa Ana but whose service area includes the <br />City of Santa Ana." <br /> <br /> B. "United Way raised $627,895 from firms located <br />in the City of Santa Ana for a total of $6.5 million in <br />Orange County." <br /> <br /> C. "Of the total dollars collected by United Way, <br />87.4% was disbursed to agencies. Operational costs break <br />down in the following categories: <br /> <br />Fund Raising 5.1% <br />Community Planning/ <br />Agency Relations 2.1% <br />Communication Costs 1.8% <br />Management Costs 3.6% <br /> <br />Total Costs <br /> <br />12.6%" <br /> <br /> D. "United Way of Orange County North/South here- <br />by agrees to all conditions set forth in Criteria D." <br /> <br /> <br />
