<br />The Mayor announced this ~s the time and place for the continued hearing of
<br />protests or objections against the assessment for the improvement of St.
<br />Andrew Place and other streets in Assessment District ~1o. 199. The Mayor
<br />stated he had received a letter signed by H. £. Dold, 302 Victoria Street,
<br />Costa Mesa, owner of property described as Lot l0 Block ll Tract 560, in
<br />Assessment District ~o. 199, objecting to the exceedingly high charges for
<br />the work done. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried,
<br />the communication was received and filed. Abe ~ayor inquired if there was
<br />anyone in the audience who wished to protest; no protests were received, and
<br />it was moved oy Councilman Hall, seconded by Hubbard and carried that the
<br />heari~g be closed. The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the
<br />Resolution, on motion of Council~u Hubbard, seconded by Brewer and carried,
<br />
<br />the following Resoluti~ entitled:
<br /> City Council o% the
<br /> "Resolution ~o. 59-~14 of the/City of Santa Aha confirming
<br /> the assessment for the improvement of St. Andrew Place
<br /> and other streets (A.D. 199)"

<br />was considered and passed by the following vote:

<br />S. Shelton Street in ~ss*ssment District No. 202, protested the cost in
<br />excess of $185.OOo It was moved by Councilman Brewer, seconded by Hubbard
<br />and carried that the protest be over-ruled. A tabulation of oids was pre-
<br />sented for the improvement of Towuer ~treet and ot~er streets in ~ssessment
<br />

<br />having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, c~ motion of Council-
<br />man Brewer, seconded oy Huobard and cm~ried, the following Resolution entitled:

<br /> Oanta Ana awarding contract to improve Towner Street and
<br /> other streets in the City, in accordance with Resolution
<br /> of ±ntention No. 59-45 (A.D. 202)"

<br />Attorney Charles G. Schlegel, representing The Gallegos Corporation, requested
<br />
<br />that his client be allowed to correct Alternate No. 2 from $1,200.00 to
<br />$12,000.00 due to an obvious clerical error in computation~on his ~id for the
<br />construction of the Police FacLlity Ouilding, and to accept the bid as the
<br />lowest and best bid. Mr. Schlegel stated he had previously submitted letters
<br />reco~ending the work of The GaLlegos Corporation, from Harold ~imeno,
<br />Architect; ~. o. Marschner, Construotion Supervisor~ Bureau of Hospitals;
<br />Taylor & Connor, Architects, Pasadena; Everett Parks and Paul Davis,
<br />Architects, Santa Ana;and H. C. Chambers and ~ester Hi, bard, Architects,
<br />
<br />Los Angeles. Mr. Schlegel said there is a $2,2~4.OO difference between this
