<br />Communication was read from the Department of Public Works advising the improve-
<br />
<br />ments within the boundaries of Tract No. 2392 have been satisfactorily completed,
<br />
<br />with the exception of the removal of the blacktop roadway along the extension of
<br />Central Avenue and Hemlock Way from the westerly end of the tract to Bristol Street,
<br />and an additional bond has been obtained by Dike and Colegrove to guarantee the
<br />
<br />removal of this blacktop and the placing of street barricades as required by the
<br />
<br />Department of Public Works. On motion of Counc~!mau Hubbard, seconded by Gould
<br />and carried, proper officials were authorized to execute agreement dated JUly 29,
<br />
<br />1959 with Dike and Colegrove, Inc., and performance bond dated July 29, 1959, in

<br />Loretta W. Shealy covering the removal of all portions of the building from the
<br />westerly 10 feet of property located at the northeast corner of Washington amd Main
<br />Streets.

<br />Mayor Dale H. Heinly announced he is resigning as Mayor, effective August IV, 1959,
<br />but intends to re,in on the Council and requested that a new Mayor be selected.
<br />Mayor Heinly relinquished the Chair. Councilman Hall assumed the Chair. Mayor
<br />
<br />Heinly nominated Counc~lm-- B',~]] as M~yor effective August 17, 1959. On motion of
<br />
<br />Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the resignation of Dale H. Neinly,
<br />
<br />as Mayor, effective August 17, 1959, was accepted with regrets. Mayor Heinly
<br />
<br />nominated Councilm~n Hall as Mayor to be effective August 17, 1959.

<br />recess be declared. It was moved by Councilm~n Brewer and seconded by Gould that

<br />carried. M~or Heinly nom~inated Councilman Hubbard as Vice-Mayor. Councilman

<br />Brewer nominated Counc~lm~n Gould as Vice-Mayor. On motion of Mayor Heinly and

<br />seconded by GoUld, the nominations were closed. It was suggested that a secret
<br />
<br />ballot be taken and the ballots were banded to the Clerk. The Clerk announced
<br />three ballots w~re cast for Councilman Hubbard as Vice-Mayor, effective August 17,
