<br />the Variance due to the noise, cars and general activity surrounding the garage.

<br />The applicant stated he has a disability ~ich precludes him from securing regular
<br />
<br />employment and is attempting to go into business for himself. He presented a peri-
<br />
<br />tion signed by 50% of the property owners within 300 feet of the proposed auto re-
<br />
<br />pair business at lllll E. Fifth Street, favoring the granting of the Variance. On
<br />
<br />motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Brewer and carried, the petition was re-
<br />
<br />ceived and filed. The applicant stated he has no intention of conducting a wrecking
<br />
<br />yard, and only mechanical repair work would be done inside the building. The Council
<br />
<br />having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Councilman
<br />Brewer, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the following resolution entit~d:

<br />Knapp, to use the property situated on the west side of Sullivan Street, between
<br />
<br />First and Willits Streets in R-1 District, as a trailer park with recreational
<br />
<br />facilities, offices, and necessary appurtenances, all in compliance with governing
<br />
<br />codes and ordinances, subject to conditions. Attorney Walter Chaffee, representing
<br />the applicant, stated that all conditions set forth by the Planning Commission are
<br />
<br />agreeable to his client, with exception of the dedication of Willits Street. It
<br />
<br />was moved by Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, that the matter be
<br />
<br />referred to the At~raey for legal raling, s~d the matter be continued until
<br />
<br />September 21, 1959.

<br />Communication was read from the Planning Cmmmission recommending denial of Variance
<br />
<br />Application No. 1162, filed by E. A. and Dorothy Reuter, to convert existing garage
<br />
<br />into a dwelling unit and build three new duplexes on a lot with an existing single-
<br />
<br />fsmily home (total 8 units) on property situated at 814 Orange Avenue, in R-1
<br />
<br />District. A petition signed by approximately twelve persons, and letters of protests
<br />
<br />from John R. Wilson, 311 Wakeham Avenue and Mrs. Leland Bear, 912 Orange Avenue,
<br />
<br />were read, and on motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Brewer and carried, the
<br />
