Hollingsworth <br />Limited parking zone <br /> <br /> .~, ~ <br /> <br />Communication was read from the Department of Public Works requesting approval of <br />payment of $171.25 to Henry Segerstrom for the difference in cost between an 8-inch <br />sewer line and a 12-inch sewer line in Harbor B~ulevard at Talbert Avenue, and on <br />motion of Councilman Hubbard, ~econded by Heinly and carried, approval was granted <br />for payment to Henry Segerstrom, in the amount of $171.25. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the plans and speci- <br />fications were approved, and the Purchasing Agent authorized to advertise for bids <br />for the construction of storm drain from 21st Street and Alona to the Santa Aha <br />River, and on English Street between 5th and 8th Streets, Project No. 33; bids to <br />be opened November 2nd, 1959. <br /> Goaoel <br />Request was read from Arthur Pedersen, Pastor, Santa Aha Four-Square/Uhurch, for <br /> <br />permission to preach, sing and use a hand organ on the northwest corner of Fourth <br />and Bush Streets, ca Saturday afternoons from 3:30 P.M. to 4:30 P.M., beginning <br />October 10, ~59, and for an indefinite period. It was moved by Councilman Gould <br />and seconded by Heinly that the request be denied, as the use of the hand organ <br />will create a huisance. Councilman Heinly withdrew his second. On motion of <br />Councilman Heinly, seconded by Hubbard and carried, permission was granted to <br />preach, sing and use a hand organ on the northwest corner of Fourth and Bush StreetS, <br />frcm 5:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M., beginning October 10, 1959, and for a period of six <br /> <br />months. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br /> <br /> Ayes, Councilmen Royal E. Gould, Jr. <br /> Absent, Councilmen None <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the written recom- <br />mendatica of the Manager, dated September 29, 1959, for salary step increases for <br />seven e~ployees, effective October 1, 1959, was approved. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seccaded by Heinly and carried, b ondin the sum <br />of $33,000.00, filed by Lemon Heights Investment Corporation, for the improvements <br />on 28 lots located on the south side of Sixth Street, with a frontage of 440 feet <br />beginning at a point 165 feet east of Eastside Avenue and extending southerly to a <br />depth of 570 feet in Tract No. 2719, was ordered released and improvements accepted <br /> <br />as c mmpleted. <br />,, <br />Co~municatica was read from Mr. Harold Yost~ Secretary, City Schools, advising that <br />the Beard of Education has directed him to make a request for the provision of a <br />guard at Rene Drive and Delhi Road for the safety of children going to and from the <br />John Adams School. On motion of CouncLlman Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried, <br />the matter was referred to the Manager for investigation, study and report at meet- <br />lng of November 2, 1959. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried, the application of <br />Whit M. Helms was granted to solicit funds, on behalf of Orenge County Voiture No. <br />527 of the Forty and Eight to sell tickets beginning approximately October 6th, for <br />the Donkey Baseball Game and Show, to be held in the Orange County Fair Grounds, <br />on October 18th; the tickets for the Show are sold to the merchants only through <br />telephone solicitatica. <br /> <br />On recommendation of the Curb Usage Ccmmittee, and on motion of Councilman Hubbard,~ <br />seccaded by Brewer and carried, the request of Dr. M. Hollingsworth, 1806 North <br />Main Street, was denied, for the establishment of a two-hour parking zone ~ Eight- <br />eenth Street. <br /> <br /> <br />
