<br />On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the
<br />
<br />lowest and best bid of E. D. Johnson & Company, in the total amount of
<br />
<br />$10,285.00, was accepted and the other bids rejected.

<br /> This being the date set for hearing on the 1959-60 Budget, the Mayor asked if there
<br />
<br />were any protests, and Mr. J. Ogden Markel, 1814 So. Patton Street, stated that he
<br />
<br />felt the Budget provides an opportunity for a decrease in the property tax rate,
<br />
<br />and as~d the City Council to ccmpr~ise between $1.44 and the $1.40 to lower the
<br />
<br />tax rate. The hearing was closed. On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Hub-
<br />
<br />ha~d and carried, the Budget for 1959-60 was adopted.

<br />The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Ordinance, on motion of
<br />
<br />Councilman NeLly, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the following Ordinance entitled:
<br />
<br />"Ordinance No. NS-400 adopting the annual Budget for the fiscal year
<br />commencing July l, ~959, and fixing the limitations of expenditures
<br />for the several funds and the functions, departments and activities
<br />carried on under such funds"
<br />
<br />was considered and passed as an emergency Ordinance by the following vote:
<br />
<br />Ayes, Councilmen Royal E. Hubbard, Stanley C. Gould, Jr.,
<br /> Dale H. Heinly, Bob Brewer, A. A. Hall
<br />Noes, Councilmen None
<br />Absent, Councilmen None
<br />
<br />This being the date set for hearing on changing the work proposed to be done in
<br />
<br />Assessment District No. 202, and changing the amount of contribution to be made
<br />
<br />by the City, no protests were received and the hearing was closed. The Council
<br />
<br />having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Councilman
<br />
<br />Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the following Resolution entitled:
<br />
<br />"Resolution NO. 59-262 of the City Council of the City of Santa Aha ordering
<br /> changes in the work proposed to be done in Asses~ent District
<br /> No. 202 and changing the ~ount of contribution to be made by the
<br /> City as described and set forth in Resolution No. 59-45."
