REL: adg <br />7/30/80 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 80- i28 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA DECLARING THE RESULTS <br />OF THE CANVASS OF ELECTION RETURNS OF THE <br />SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID <br />CITY ON JUNE 3, 1980 <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> 1. That a special municipal election was duly and <br />regularly held in the City of Santa Ana, California on the <br />3rd day of June, 1980, at which election there were <br />submitted to the qualified voters of said city the following <br />propositions, to wit: <br /> <br /> PROPOSITION S - CHARTER AMENDMENT NO. 1. <br />NUMBER OF WARDS: Shall section 101.1 of the Charter be <br />amended and section 101.3 be deleted so that the number of <br />wards in the city shall not be more than seven, regardless <br />of population increases? <br /> <br /> PROPOSITION T - CHARTER AMENDMENT NO. 2. <br />RESIDENCY QUALIFICATIONS OF CANDIDATES FOR CITY COUNCIL: <br />Shall section 401 of the Charter be amended to make it <br />consistent with existing law by requiring that a candidate <br />for city council be a resident of the ward from which he <br />seeks election at the time of his nomination? <br /> <br /> PROPOSITION U - CHARTER AMENDMENT NO. 3. <br />EMPLOYMENT OF DEPARTMENT HEADS: Shall section 1002 of the <br />Charter be amended to include the Director of Recreation and <br />Parks, Library Director, Museum Director, Director of Public <br />Works, Director of Building Safety, Director of Planning, <br />Equipment Maintenance Superintendent, and Executive Director <br />Redevelopment Agency in the "excepted service" division of <br />civil service? <br /> <br /> PROPOSITION V - CHARTER AMENDMENT NO. 4. <br />CONSOLIDATION AND ANNEXATIONS: Shall sections 1012 and 1013 <br />be added to the Charter to provide for placement on city <br />employment eligibility lists of officers and employees of <br />any city which may be consolidated into the City of Santa <br />Ana or other public agencies which may be annexed or <br />otherwise merged into the City of Santa Ana? <br /> <br /> PROPOSITION W - ADVISORY VOTE ONLY. SALES TAX <br />APPORTIONMENT: Should the Governor and Legislature of the <br />State of California be advised that: <br /> <br />"It is the will of the people of the City <br />of Santa Ana that the Governor and Legislature <br />apportion the existing six cents sales and use <br />tax so that two cents rather than the present <br />one cent be allocated to be used by cities and <br />counties and special districts for priority <br />local services rather than by the state for <br />state distribution of state reserves. <br /> <br /> <br />
