On motion of Councilman Brewer, seconded by <br /> bard and carried, the petition was received and filed. Nellie Rosccrans, 630 Gar- <br /> field Street, inquired about the expense of moving her building,, in the event of a <br /> street widening, end her questions were satisfactorily answered by the M~yor. <br /> <br /> Mr. H. Shugart, owner of properties at 305-311 Fruit Street, asked questions with <br /> regard to the width of the street, and his questions were satisfactorily answered <br /> by CounciLman Heinly. The hearing was closed, and on motion of Councilman Gould, <br /> seconded by Heinly and carried, the matter was continued to the meeting of Februaryi <br /> 1st. <br /> <br /> This being the date set for hearing on annexation of property consisting of 17.72 <br /> acres situated on the north side of Trask Avenue, east of Laird Street, designated <br /> "Trask and Laird N.E. Annex"; Ea~war~ E. Dumon, 1SS01 E. Trask Avenue, asked numer- <br /> ous questions as to the advantages of this annexation coming into the City of Santa <br /> &ua, and it was suggested that he make au appointment with the City Manager for any <br /> further information. On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, <br /> the following Ordinance entitled: <br /> <br /> "Ordinance declaring the annexation of that certain territory <br /> designated 'Trask and Laird N. E. Annex'" <br /> <br /> was introduced, considered and p~aced on file for second reading. <br /> <br />This being the date and hour fixed by the Council in Resolution No. 59-B15 for the <br />filing of written protests against the election ~n that certain territory designated <br />"South Santa Aha Annex No. 2"; on motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hubbard <br />and carried, the Manager and Attorney were instructed to prepare the necessary papers <br />and maps and delete from the annexation every parcel of l~nd west of Bristol Street~ <br />which is south of Paularino Avenue~ deleting approximately 17.6 acres from this <br />annexation which would be the area requesting deletion by letter to the City Council <br />signed by Messrs. Miltenburg~ O'Halloran, et al, said area being less than 5% of the <br />total area in the annexation. The ~yor asked the Clerk if she had received, any <br />protests, and the Clerk reported receipt of protests representing ~% of the total <br />valuation of the area; that the area has a total assessed valuation of <br />excluding public land, and the assessed value of the land represented by the protest- <br />ants was found to be not more than $62~00. It was moved by Councilmen Gould, se- <br />conded by Heinly and carried, that the protests represeuting h% of the total area <br />be received and filed. The Mayor announced that since there was not a majority <br />protest and as only a 4~ protest was made, that the time for filing protests would <br />be continued for a period of ten days~ in accordance with Goverr~nent Code Section <br />35,120. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the matter <br />was continued until the meeting of February l~ 1960~ and the per, ed for filing pro- <br />tests against said election be extended to 5 P.M., January 28, 1960, to allow an <br />additional ten days for the filing of such pretests as required by law. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilmau Brewer~ seconded by Heinly and carried, the recommendation <br />of the Planning Commission was approved and Variance Application No. 1236~ filed by <br />Leslie D. Truman, to construct a garage w~th a one-bedroom apartment above, at the <br />rear of each of two lots, on property at 2015-19 Hickory Street, in the R-1 District, <br />was granted, in accordance with plot plan. <br /> <br /> <br />
