<br />On recommendation of the Police Department, and on motion of Councilman iiubbard,
<br />seconded hy Gould and carried, the renewal application for permit of William F.
<br />Aeker, dba Acker Ambulance Service, Associated ;mbulance Service, 1907 North Main
<br />Street, was approved for a ]-959 M&M~ Cadillac, 1959 Comet Buick and 1.959 Comet
<br />Buick.

<br />It was moved by Councilman Gould and seconded by Brewer that the City Council
<br />declare its intention to amend the Ordinance relating to one-way traffic on Syca-
<br />more Street and establishing two-way traffic thereon, setting the date of hearing
<br />on June 6, 1960, end the City Manager be instructed to notify the Downtown Busi-
<br />nessmen's Association, Chamber of Commerce, First Street Improvement Association,
<br />
<br /> and other interested groups and property owners on Sycsmore Street, to file any
<br />
<br /> the
<br />reCOmmendations 'to assis~ City Coxiucil in making the changes.

<br />Mayor Hall stated he had been an advocate for the removal of one-way streets end
<br />reco~nended that various interested agencies in the downtown business area be
<br />notified to submit their recommendations, and after adequate information,s been
<br />obtained, that a hearing be set to determine whether Sycamore Street should be es-
<br />tablished as a one-way or two-way street.
<br />
<br />Motion lost.

<br />It was moved by Councilman Heinly and seconded by Hubbard that a Minute Order be
<br />spread upon the Minutes instructing the Menager: (1) That a signal be -installed at
<br />1st and Sycamore Streets, at the earliest practicable date; (2) Consider seriously
<br />and report back with recommendation to ~xtending one-way traffic on Cypress Street
<br />to Delhi Road; (~) Consider the installation of a signal at 17th and Sycamore
<br />Streets; (~) Consider seriously extending one-way street system on Sycamore Street
<br />from McFadden Avenue to Bishop Street end northward. A_*ter discussion, Councilman
<br />Heinly withdrew his motion on item (1) and on items (2), (3) and (h) requested a
<br />study and report. It was moved by Councilman Heinly aud seconded by Itubbard, that
<br />a signal be installed, as soon as possible, on 1st and Sycamore Streets.

<br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Hubbard and carried, approval was granted --~
<br />for payment of $250.00 to Kindel & Anderson, Attorneys at Law, per statement submitted
<br />to the Samta Ama Cha~er of C~mmeree (vs. City ef Garden Grove) for legal services
<br />rendered for research, cenferemces, court a~pearances, involving Writ of Mandate,
<br />City of Santa Ama, in connection with annexation proceedings.
