On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Heinly and carried, the recommendation of the Planning Ccm~ission was approved and Variance Application No. 1275, filed by Ona T. Stovall, to move a single-family house onto the rear of the lot, with one existing single-family house, on property at ~ Bolsa Avenue, in the R-1 District, was granted, subject to conditions and without dedication. On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Heinly and carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and Variance Application No. 1276, filed by Donald Col~maB, to decrease the front-yard requirements from 60 feet to 50 feet from the center line of street, on property on the north side of Hazard Avenue, between Verano and Newhope Streets (Tract 3651) in the R-1 District, was granted. On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Heinly and carried, the recommendation of the PlanniB~ Commission was approved and Variance Application No. 12~7, filed by Donald Coleman, to decrease the front-yard requirements from 60 feet to 50 feet from center line of street, on property on the north side of Sugar Avenue, between Verano and Newhope Streets, (Tract 2~05)~in the A-1 District, was ~a~ted~ in accordance with plot plan. On mOtion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Heinly and carried, the rec~endation of the Planning C~ission was approved and Variance Application No. 1279, filed by W. L. Birch, to construct a single-family house on the rear part of lot, with one existing single-family house, on property at 1126 Clara Avenue, in the R-1 District, was granted, subject to conditions. On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Heinly and carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and Variance Application No. 1280, filed by Leonard Castaneda, to remove existing single-family dwelling and construct a n~ duplex on property at 207 Flora Street, in the R-1 District, was ~ranted. in a~cord~ .. anc~with 15lot p-an. Ccmmunication was read from the Planning Commission recommending denial of Variance Application No. 1263, filed by W. H. Borter, to construct three apartments over a six-car garage, on a lot with four existing apartments, on property at 422 E. Chest~ nut Avenue, in the R-2 District. Mr. I. H. Pennington, 510 E. Myrtle Street, stat*~ he represented the property owners in that district, and that a petition signed by approximately 26 persons was filed with the Planning Commission opposing this Var- lance. Attorney John Gilbert, representing the applicant, showed some pictures of the area and said there were two double apartment buildings on Myrtle and Maple Streets, and a Six-Unit apartment buildi~ on the corner of Maple Street and Chest. nut Avenue; that Mr. Borter's building would have two additional apartments only in the rear of the property, with six car ports and sufficient driveway to come out forward onto the street. Also, the apartments will not be detrimental to the area, nor create a traffic hazard. On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Heinly and carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved, Variance Appl.No. 1268 John Magarro Variance Application NO. 126~ denied. On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Beinly and carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved, and Variance Application No. 1268, filed by John Magarro, to construct two duplexes (four units) on a lOt with one existing single-family residence, on property at 11712 Sugar 9.venue, iu the R-1 District, w~ denied.
