<br />This being the date set for hearing on Amendment Application No. 309, filed by
<br />
<br />Wm. D. Greschner Company, amending Sectional District Map ll-5-10, to reclassify
<br />from the M-1 District to the C-2-PE District, a parcel of land on the north side
<br />of First Street, beginning at a point 539.19 feet west of center line of Townsend
<br />Street, with approximately 210-foot frontage on First Street, and depth of 60~ feeti
<br />no protests were received and the heari~ was closed. On motion of Councilman
<br />Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the following Ordinance entitled:

<br /> "Ordir~nce amending'Article IX of the Santa Ana Municipal Code
<br /> to change district classification on Amendment Application No.
<br /> 309 and amending Sectional District Map il-5-10"
<br />
<br />was introduced, considered and placed on file for second reading.
<br />
<br />This being the date set for hearing on Amendment Application No. 310, initiated by
<br />the Planning Commission, to amend Sectional District Map !l-5-10, to reclassify
<br />from the R-2 District to the R-1 District~ one parcel of land (approximately 50
<br />feet by 1BO feet in size), situated at the northwesterly corner of Art~sia and
<br />Fifteenth Streets~ pl~inning %ommisslon recommended denial. Communication was pre-
<br />sented from James E. Carlson, dated March 29, 1960, requesting that no action be
<br />taken on this Amendment Application. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by
<br />Heinly and carried, the recon~endation of the Planning Commission was approved,
<br />amd f~mendment Application No. 310 denied.

<br />On motion of CounciLman Hubbard, se~nded by Brewer and carried, the following
<br />Variance Applications were granted, as recOnmended by the Planning C~issiou:

<br /> Variance Applicatiou No. 1~82, filed by Lewis A. Bittle, to add a two-bedroom
<br />dwelling unit on the rear part of the lot, on property at 2131 Cypress Avenue, in
<br />the R-~ District~ subject to one condition.

<br /> Variance Application No. 128~ filed by the Land Acquisition Service, to convert
<br />an ex~sting dwelling to a general business office to be used by the Land Acquisition
<br />Service, a right-of-way firm perf6rming land appraisal and right-of-way acquisition
<br />services for indiglduals and governmental agencies, on property at 610 So. Broadway~
<br />in the R-3 District, subject to conditions.

<br /> Variance Application No. 1285, filed by Dike & Colegrove, Inc., to construct
<br />four two-story~ two-bedroom apartments~ four garages~ storage and laundry rooms~
<br />plus at least two parking spaces per lot; the minimum front setback to be 50 feet
<br />from center line of the street, on property on the north side of Lorenzo Street,
<br />beginning at a point approximately 200 feet west of Shelton Street, in the R-1
<br />District, as subnlitted.

<br /> Variance Application No. 1286, filed by Alfonso L. Morales, to build a new
<br />house next to existing house, without attaching the units, on property at 1128 W.
<br />~.irst Street, in the C-1-PK District, subject to conditions.

<br />Cu,~a~nicetion was read from the Planning Co~lssion reference Variance Application
<br />No. 1287~ filed by Nick Padilla, to build a new one-bedroom duplex on the rear part
<br />of the lot which contains one existing dwelling unit, on property at 1329 W. 2nd
<br />Street, in the R-2 Distriotl Planning Co~nnission recommended that Variance be
<br />granted to permit construction of one single-family dwelling on rear part of lot,
<br />instead of duplex, subject to conditions. Mr. M. GraJeda, 9hl W. Fifth Street,
<br />representing the applicant, stated that this property is adjoined by C-1 zoning and
<br />questioned why a duplex could not be built instead of a single-family dwelling.

<br />On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Heinly and carried, the recommendation
<br />of the Planning C~,~Gission wes approved, and Variance Application No. 1287 granted,
<br />to .l~ermit constrUctioa of a single-family dwelling on rear part of the lot, subJect'i
<br />to conditions.
