Ou motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Brewer and c~rried, the followdng claims were referred to the City attorney and Insurance Carrier: Ruby Nell Black-~ood~ 1900 E. Vincente Street~ Con%Ycon, for alleged personal inJuries~ in the amount of $5%000.00, due to lack of warning signs at a dead end street at 400 E. Edinger Street, causing her automobile to run off the road, and Melvina M. Titchenal, 812 .No. Olive Stree% for elleged personal injuries, in the amount of $53~B17.50, due to a fall on the sidewalk at 701 No. Flower Streeti. On motion of Councilman Hubbard~ seconded by Brewer and carried~ the following appli- cations to solicit funds were granted: Orange County Council of National Multiple Sclerosis~ in association with the Southern California Chapt~e~, to solicit f~mds May 8 through June 1% 1960~ for research into the cause and cure of Multiple Sclerosis~ patient care and rehsbili- tation clinics for MS victims, Community Clubs and Camping Secretary~ Young Men's Christian Association~ 205 W. Eighth Stree% to solicit funds, through the sale of peanuts, the night of April 25 and including July l, 1960, to provide funds for yo%%ngsters to go to camp~ and Ernest E. Kellogg Post No. 1680~ Veterans of Foreign Wars, to solicit fund~ ar sell poppies on the streets, Wmy 20th and 21st, 196% by both members of Post 1680 and the Ladies ' Auxiliary. A petition was presented signed by approximately 47 persons requesting the Departm~ ~t of Public Works to prepare a petition to initiate a Sewer Assessment District in th~ area bounded by Verano Street on the west~ Hazard Avenue on the north~ Newhope Aver on the east and 5th Street on the south. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seeonde~ by Heinly and carried: the petition was referred to the Department of Public Works for investigation and proper action. It was moved by Councilman Hubbard~ seconded by Fein]y and carried~ thst the heari~ date on the "Bairns Annex No. 1" be reset to ~mgust 1~ 1960, On motion of Councilman Hubbard~ seconded by Heinly and carried, the annexation designated "South Santa ~na Annex No. 2" was declared null and void and all_ proceed~ ings terminated under the Inhabited Act. ii It was moved by Councilman Hubbard~ seconded by Heinly and carr~ed~ that the requesll of the Secretary of City Schools be denied for s crosswalk to be located approximat midwsy between Bristol Street and College Avenue, for students parking on the north side of 17th Street. The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the ~esolution, on motion of Councilman Heinly~seconded by Hubbard and carried, the fo]lowing Mesolution entltl~. "Resolution No. 60-93 concerning parking limitations and curb markings in accordance therew-lth" establishing No Parking Zones on the west side of Broadway between McFadden Avenue and Cubbon Street, as reco~m~ende8 by the Department of Publ~_c Works~ ~.s consider~ and passed by the follmcing vote: Ayes, Councilmen Boya!
