<br />On motion of Councilman GOuld, seconded by Hubbard and carried, John Day ~s ap-
<br />
<br />pointed as a member of the Commission of the Santa Ana Vehicle Parking District
<br />
<br />No. 1; term to expire June 30, 1963.

<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the claim of Lupe ]
<br />Sarthou, 14051 E. Elm Street, Brea, for alleged damages to automobile, in the amotn
<br />
<br />of $37.08~ due to piece of steel extending from the curb, north on Ross Street, Jus
<br />south of Fourth Street, was referred to the ~ity Attorney and Insurance Carrier; an
<br />
<br />the claim of Lois Schmidt, 2~28 W. Palm, Orange, for alleged~personal injuries due
<br />
<br />to arrest as a result of failure to answer and appear on a traffic citation, in May
<br />
<br />1960, was rejected as the City of Santa Ana is not involved.
<br />
<br />Frank J. Gelinas, Manager, Chamber of Commerce, read a communication dated Septemb,
<br />6, 1960, stating their unequivocal opposition to the use of any City community fac~
<br />
<br />ities, including sewers, by another municipality or any Unincorporated area outside
<br />the corporate limits of the City. On motion of Councilman Gould~ seconded by Hubbs
<br />
<br />and carried, the communication was approved, received and filed.
<br />
<br />Attorney Charles G. Schlegel, 803 No. Broadway, Member of the Board of Education,
<br />
<br />read a report on the Santa Ana Bowl Rehabilitation Project, stating that on August
<br />
<br />16, 1960, Rudy Gallegos, President of The Gallegos Corporation, announced the
<br />
<br />Municipal Bowl rejuvenation was complete. Mr. Schlegel presented facts and figures
<br />
<br />and paid respect to the organizations and persons who voluntarily gave of their
<br />
<br />time and effort to the rehabilitation of the Municipal Bowl. On motion of Council.
<br />
<br />man Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the report was received and filed.
<br />
<br />The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of
<br />
<br />CounciLman Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried¢ the following Resolution entitle
<br />
<br />"Resolution No. 60-171 expressing appreciation to persons and
<br />organizations contributing time and material used to rehabili-
<br />tate the Santa Ana Municipal Bowl"
<br />
<br />and the Clerk instructed to send certified copies of the Resolution to the organize
<br />
<br />tions and persons named in said Resolution, who voluntarily gave of their time and
<br />
<br />effort in the rehabilitation of the Municipal Bowl, was considered and passed by
<br />
<br />the following vote:

<br />Noes, Councilmen None
<br />Absent, Councilmen Dale H. Heinly
<br />
<br />Mayor Hall stated he had received authorization from Dale H. Heinly, Councilman~
<br />absent at this meeting, to make the vote unanimous, and the Resolution was unani-
<br />mously adopted.
<br />
<br />It was moved by Counci]~nan Gould, seconded by Brewer and carried, that due to the
<br />resignation of Councilman Dale H. Heinly,' Attorney Charles G. Schlegel and Wilbur
<br />Bart be appointed to assist the City Council~ and Councilmen Stanley C. Gould~ Jr.
<br />and Bob Brewer be appointed to work with the Board of Education in arranging for a
<br />committee toward the development of the Municipal Bowl.
<br />
<br />A petition was presented from James Requarth~ 920 Cypress Avenue, signed by seven
<br />residents of the 900 block Cypres~ Avenue, requesting removal of "No Parking" sign
<br />on Cypress Avenue, and on motion of CounciLman Gould~ seconded by Hubbard and
