Newport Avenue~ requested <br />reconsideration of the Amendment Application denied by the Planning Commission, <br />and stated that the proposed zone change will make available new off-street <br />parking spaces, new building sites~ and other facilities to further expand the <br />services of the Southside Shopping Center~ extending between South Main Street <br />and South Broadway, including among other retail businesses~ the Sears Retail <br />Store. We have requested C-2 zoning and feel this property is more applicable <br />to a business application now and in the future range planning~ than it is to a <br />residential use. The property immediately south and to the east are also zoned <br />C-2~ and the natural growth pattern is north along Broadway~ between Sycamore <br />and Broadway. Councilman Brewer suggested reclassification to the C-1 District <br />and Mr. Missildine stated there would be no objection to the C-1 classification <br />The hearing was closed. It was moved by Councilman Brewer and seconded by <br />Hubbard, that the following Ordinance entitled: <br /> <br /> "Ordinance amending Article IX of the Santa Ana Municipal Code <br /> to change district classification on Amendment Application No. <br /> ~2~ and amending Sectional District Nap No. 24-5-10" <br /> <br />with a change in the reclassification fram the R-1 and R-2 Districts to the C-1 <br />District~ instead of C-2 District as shown in Amendment Application No. 323, <br />was introduced~ considered and placed on file for second reading. <br /> <br />Roll Call Ayes~ CounciLmen Royal E. Kilroy~ amending Sectional District Map 22-5-10, Exhibit S25-A, to re- <br />classify from R-1 to M-1 District property adjacent to and 962 feet 'north of <br />westerly extension of Harvard Street, lying adjacent to and 2000 feet east of <br />the Santa Ana River, and south and west of the Federal Communications C <br />property; no protests were received and the hearing was closed. On motion of <br />Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried, the following Ordinance <br />entitled: <br /> <br /> "Ordinance amending Article IX of the Santa Ana Nunictpal <br /> Code to change district classification on Amendment Appli- <br /> cation No. 325 and amending Sectional District Map No. <br /> 22-5-10 (Exhibit 325 A)" <br /> <br />was introduced~ considered and placed on file for second reading. <br /> <br />This being the date set for hearing on Amendment Application No. 326, filed by <br />Frank D. Patty, amending Sectional District Map 19-5-9, Exhibit S26-A, to re- <br />classify from C-1 to R-3 District property on the east side of Evergreen Street <br />between Occidental and Edinger Streets; no protests were received and the <br />was closed.
