Request <br />Manager <br />To employ <br />Land Acquisition <br /> Service <br /> <br />Plans and specifi- <br />cations and advertise <br />· o~ bids, Fire Station <br />NO. 8 <br /> <br />Advertise for bids <br />Xml~T0 ~e Sugar Ave. <br />btn Harbor Blvd. and <br />West City Limits, <br />Project 126 <br /> <br />Approve payment <br />Cunningham Builders, Inc. <br />Improve Standard Ave. and <br />Bishop Street <br /> <br />Release Bonds <br />Tract Nos.2482 and <br />3665 <br /> <br />Applications to <br />Solicit Funds <br /> <br />Application to <br />Solicit Funds <br /> <br />llaim for <br /> <br />· ~ ?~ <br /> <br />Reso.No.60-242 <br />Remove Yellow Zones <br />No.and So.sides Third <br />8t.btn Sycamore and <br />Broadway; establish <br /> Zone So.side <br /> sst ..btn_Broadway <br /> ycemor~ ~. <br /> <br />reclassify from the R-3 District to the C-2 District, property generally describe( <br />as a parcel 80 feet by 120 feet, located on the east side of Grand Avenue, begin- <br />ning approximately 150 feet north of the intersection of Fourth Street and Grand <br />Avenue; on motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried, the hear- <br />ing was continued to December 5, 1960. <br /> <br />On motion of CounciLman Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried, the request of th <br />Manager was approved to employ Land Acquisition Service to appraise and negotiate <br />for the procurement of lands for the expansion of the Civic Center, not to exceed <br />an additional sum of $5,000.00. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried~ the request of <br />the Department of Public Works was granted, the plans and specifications approved, <br />and the Purchasing Agent authorized to advertise for bids for the construction of <br /> <br /> Fire Station No. 8, located at 5th and Newhope Streets; bids to be opened <br />December 19, 1960. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried, the request of <br />the Department of Public Works was granted, and the Purchasing Agent authorized to <br />advertise for bids for the improvement of Sugar Avenue, between Harbor Boulevard <br />and the West City Limits, Project 126; bids to be opened December 5, 1960. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried, the request of <br />the Department of Public Works was approved for payment of $13,814.00 to Cunningh~ <br />Builders, Inc. for the City's proportionate share of cost to improve Standard Avert <br />and Bishop Street. <br /> <br />On motion of CounciLman Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried, the bonds were <br />ordered released and improvements accepted as completed on the following Tracts: <br /> <br /> Bond in the sum of $105,000.00, filed by Cunningham Builders, Inc., for the <br />improvements on approx~ately 20 acres, or 78 lots~ bounded on the north by Chest- <br />nut Street, on the west by a line approximately 800 feet west of the S.P.R.R., on <br />the east by a line apprcximately 396 feet west of the S.P.R.R. and on the south <br />by a line approximately 2132 feet south of Chestnut Street, in Tract No. 2~82; and <br /> <br /> Bond in the sum of $31,000.00, filed by Coordinated Service, for the improve <br />ments on 39 residential lots located south of Hazard Avenue and 876 feet west of <br />Verano Street, in Tract No. 3665. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried, the following <br />Applicaticms to Solicit Funds were granted: <br /> <br /> United Cerebral Palsy Association of Orange County, requesting change of date <br />from December l, 1960 to January 12, 1961, to solicit in a house-to-house campaign <br />for the education and training of the cerebral palsied in Orange County, also the <br />support of a program of research to prevent and treat same~ and <br /> <br /> Church of ~he Palms, Seventh Day Ad'vemtist Church, 1314 No. Broadway, to <br />solicit November 26, 1960 to January 7, 1961, for their annual "Ingathering" fund- <br />raising program. <br /> <br />On recommendation of the Police Department, and on motion of Councilman Hubbard, <br />seconded by Heinly and carried, the Application of the Western Missionary Army, Inc <br />1759 No. Western Avenue, Los Angeles, was denied, to solicit funds for six months <br />for the promulgation of Christian activity. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Brewer and carried, the claim of <br />Santa Ana Chain & Gear Company, Inc., 915 E. First Street, for alleged damages to <br />their car driven by Jack R. Packard, in the sum of $712.57, due to defect in stree <br />at Bane Drive and Delhi Road, was referred to the City Attorney and Insurance <br />Carrier. <br /> <br />The Council having unadimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on moti~ of <br />Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried, the following Resolution entit <br /> <br />ed: <br /> <br /> <br />
