<br />~n motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the request of th,
<br />Department of Public Works was granted, the plans and specifications approved, and
<br />the Purchasing Agent authorized to advertise for bids, for the in~provement of
<br />Seventh Street, Between Artesia Street and the 1600 Block, Project C-52; for the
<br />reconstructions of Townsend Street, between First and Fourth Streets, Project
<br />and for the reconstruction of Eighth Street, between King and English Streets,
<br />Project C-61; bids to be opened April 17, 1961.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the request of
<br />the Department of Public Works was granted, and the Purchasing Agent authorized
<br />to advertise for bids for the widening of Bolsa Avenue, between Harbor Boulevard
<br />and a point approximately 600 feet west of Maxine Street, Project No. 120; bids
<br />to be opened April 17, 1961.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the request of
<br />the Department of Public Works was approved for payment of $965.52, to William
<br />Dwight Young, construction contractor, for his cost to pave the east ten feet of
<br />the west half of McClay Street, from First Street to 345 feet south of First
<br />Street, adjacent to Oscar's Drive-in.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Brewer and carried, the request of
<br />Carl J. Thornton, City Manager, was granted, for Ht~h Foreman,Jr., Director of
<br />Public Works to serve as Acting City Manager, during the ~4anager's absence from
<br />the State from March 25 through April 2, 1961.
<br />
<br />On motion of CounciLman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the request of th.
<br />Department of Public Works was granted and the plans and specifications approved
<br />for the widening of Fifth Street, between Harbor Boulevard and the Santa Ana
<br />River, Project No. 123.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the application of
<br />The American Cancer Society was granted to solicit funds during the month of April
<br />1961, for research, education and service to Orange County cancer patients.
<br />
<br />The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of
<br />Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried, the following Resolution en-
<br />titled:
<br />
<br /> "Resolution No. 61-77 concerning parking limitations and
<br /> curb markings in accordance therewith"
<br />
<br />establishing No Parking Zones on the east sides of Broadway, between Buffalo
<br />
<br />and Santa Clara Avenues, and between Twentieth Street and Buffalo Avenue, referenc
<br />verbal request of Councilman Dale H. Heinly, was considered and passed by the fol-
<br />
<br />lowing vote:
