<br />ance of Fall-Out Shelter plans proposed for construction within the City, was re-
<br />ferred to the Mmnager for investigation and recommendation.

<br />On motion of CounciLman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the request of the
<br />President, Civitan Club, for rental of the Municipal Bowl for about $200.00, for
<br />a period of three days during September, 1961, for the purpose of raising funds~
<br />through a Water Follies Show, for the Paularino School for Retarded Chi~ldren,
<br />
<br />1895R Newport Avenue, was referred to the Manager for investigation and reco~enda-
<br />tion.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the request of the
<br />City Employees Association, for the renewal of the existing agreement to operate
<br />the Municipal Bowl Concession for a period of one year, commencing April l, 1961
<br />and ending March 31, 1962~ and the gross be reduced from RO% to 15% under Article
<br />IV of the agreement, and stating the reasons for the request in reduction, was re-
<br />ferred to the Manager for investigation and recom~endstion.

<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the request of the
<br />Junior Chamber of Commerce was granted to use the Municipal Bowl, erect a small
<br />stage on the north edge of the playing field, install a sound system, and to have
<br />access to the Bowl on April i to install the stage and at h:O0 ~oM. the morning of
<br />April ?_nd, for an Easter Sunrise Service, Easter morning, April ~, 1961, sponsored
<br />by the Junior Chamber of C~mmerce and the Union Council of Churches, and the Junior
<br />Chamber of Co~erce will be responsible for any costs incurred, necessary insurance
<br />or damage thereto.

<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the request of the
<br />Friends of the Santa Ana Public Library was granted to use the sidewalk leading
<br />from the front entrance of the Library to the sidewalk along West Eighth Street,
<br />for a benefit book sale, with proceeds to be used for a book Fund for the Library,
<br />on April 19, 1961.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried, the Purchasing
<br />Agent was authorized to advertise for bids to furnish and deliver Traffic Signal
<br />Equipment, Luminaires and Spares, for seven intersections, Specification No. 6h3-5;
<br />bids to be opened April 3, 1961.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried, the oral request
<br />of the Manager was granted to sell the City property located on the south side of
<br />WaLnut Street, east of Flower Streeb, formerly used as the Corporation Yard, and to
<br />appoint a real estate broker according to Section 2615 of the City Code.

<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried, the written recom-
<br />mendation of the Manager, dated March 15, 1961, was approved for salary step in-
<br />creases for twenty employees, effective April l, 1961.
<br />
<br />On motion of CounciLman Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried, the oral request
<br />of Carl J. Thornton, City Manager, was granted to leave the State, to be absent on
<br />vacation, from March ~5 through April 2, 1961.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the request of the
<br />Department of Public Works was granted~ the plans and specifications approved, and
<br />the Purchasing Agent authorized to advertise for bids, for the painting of the
<br />Elevated Water Tank near Fourteenth Street and Poinsettia Avenue, and the painting
<br />of the Bristol Street Reservoir, on Bristol Street south of Santiago Creek~ bids
<br />~o be opened April 17, 1961.
