Such technology would include cable TV adaptation and <br />computerized purchasing and ordering systems. <br /> <br />Traffic Signal Synchronization (K2) - Modify traffic signals at <br />high volume intersections to operate as part of a set of regulated <br />intervals to .reduce traffic delays, improve traffic flow, and <br />increase average speed. <br /> <br />Energy Conservation standards for New Residences (NIO) - Enforce <br />energy-conserving construction standards for new residences <br />recently mandated by the California Energy Co~eission {Title <br />XXIV}. They call for the developer to incorporate elements from <br />the following options: active solar, passive solar, and higher <br />levels of insulation than are currently practiced. <br /> <br />Conversion to Energy-Efficient Street Lighting (Nll)- Replace <br />incandescent and mercury vapor fixtures with the more energy- <br />efficient high and low pressure sodium vapor fixtures. <br /> <br />Life Cycle Costing for New Government Purchases (N271 - Include <br />energy costs over the useful lifetime of products in the costing <br />analysis used to select and purchase those products. <br /> <br />Mixed Land Use/Balanced Development {011 - Encourage the mixing of <br />land use and balancing of Jobs with housing at the neighborhood <br />and coranunity scales {up to four square miles) to reduce trip <br />lengths and facilitate walking, bicycling, and transit use. <br /> <br />Clustering of New Con~n?cial .Development (0~) - Target, at least, <br />60% of future con~nerclal developments to occur within planned <br />COn~nercia) centers and clusters, to facilitate one-stop shopping, <br />walking, and transit use. <br /> <br /> <br />
