reviewing these proposals and a meeting of the taskforce has been scheduled for April, <br />2001. <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />MEMBERSHIP REVIEW TASKFORCE <br /> <br />Director Reyna gave a brief summary of the issues discussed at the first meeting of the <br />Membership Review Taskforce. He related that the sub-committee was looking at <br />criteria relative to resident members and others not classified by an organization. <br />Following the briefing member discussion ensued. Members stressed the importance of <br />community involvement and suggested that Taskforce members look at the youth pool. <br />Director Mijares pointed out that the sub-committee should take into consideration an <br />individual's ability to serve and record of community service. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />SAFETY/TRANSPORTATION SUB-COMMITTEE REPORT <br /> <br />Lt. Mike Foote, Santa Ana Police Department, gave an overview of the activities of the <br />Safety/Transportation sub-committee. He noted that the sub-committee met on March <br />13, 2001 to review seven budget proposals related to safety or transportation, and that the <br />proposals were forwarded to the Budget and Program Taskforce for final review; he <br />reported that five proposals were recommended for funding. <br /> <br />COMMENTS <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Gregorio Zul addressed the Board conceming questions on the boundaries of the <br />Empowerment Zone. <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS <br /> <br />Director Haynes announced that Mercy House has expanded from two shelters to <br />eight and has added another family shelter. He noted that the Emmanuel House, <br />designed for single homeless individuals living with HIV will be completed on <br />April 29, 2001 <br />Director Zaragoza introduced Ms. Pat Dutriz, Director of Casa De Salud <br />Director S anchez-Valentine noted that March 31, 2001 marked the celebration of <br />the first annual statewide holiday in commemoration of Cesar Chavez, and that <br />California was one of the few states that recognized the labor leader with a <br />holiday. <br /> <br />SAEC MINUTES 11 MARCH 28, 2001 <br /> <br /> <br />
