054 <br /> <br />Create an ongoing partnership with each school district ~rithin the <br />City to enhance service and facility planning. <br /> <br />Evaluate City policies and the City's General Plan in light o£ their <br />effects on school plarming, forecasting and their ability to provide <br />services. <br /> <br />Implementation Policies <br /> <br />Promote the City's cultural and recreational services so that they ~ay <br />facilitate and enhance the educational programs of all school <br />districts ~ithin the City as~e11 as the Rancho Santiago College <br />District. <br /> <br />Encourage the shared use of scheol sites and their facilities as ~ell <br />as other public facilities (i.e., libraries, recreation centers), <br />~here appropriate. <br /> <br />Plan for increased cultural, recreational and educational programs and <br />facilities within the comamity to supplement and enrich the <br />Districts' educational programs. <br /> <br />Support continued developer participation in the provision of <br />coaeunity £acilities to meet the cultural, recreational and <br />educational needs of the projected population of the City. <br /> <br />Encourage !he continued participation of each school district in the <br />C.:,ty's pt;~ '~_i~ proce~.. <br /> <br />I~lemnt~tion Strategies <br /> <br />To amend the Land Use Element of the city's General Plan and the <br />zoning district where appropriate to designate ne~ school sites. <br />These actions will be taken upon the District's acquisition of <br />properties on a site-by-site basis. <br /> <br />Establish a City policy requiring a 60-day notification to school <br />districts on the issuance o£ building permits for properties <br />identified as £uture school sites. <br /> <br />Based on City population and school enrollment projections, assist <br />school districts in identifying potential school sites adequate to <br />handle projected enrollment needs. Prepare periodic reports to City <br />Council outlining recommended planning methods to promote adequate and <br />appropriate site availability to aeet these needs. <br /> <br />Coordinate City and school district development and expansion plans to <br />maximize joint development where feasible. <br /> <br />Enhance City services at the public libraries, Bo~ers Museum, <br />recreation centers and public parks to supplement and/or complement <br />these services offered by the public and private school systems. <br /> <br />35 <br /> <br /> <br />
