Level of Service (LOS) is generally defined as a measure of the <br />effectiveness of a highway in servicing traffic in terms of <br />operations conditions. The categories are ^ through F and <br />beyond level of service E, capacity has been exceeded. <br />description of each LOS is as follows: <br /> <br />Level of Service <br />Level of Service <br />Level of Service <br /> <br />Level of Service D <br /> <br />Level of Service E <br />Level of Service F <br /> <br />Indicates no physical restrictions on <br />operating speeds. <br /> <br />Indicates stable flow with a few <br />restrictions on operating speed. <br /> <br />Indicates stable <br />more restrictions <br />changing. <br /> <br />flow, higher volume and <br />on speed and lane <br /> <br />Indicates approaching unstable flow, little <br />freedom to maneuver and condition tolerable <br />for short periods. <br /> <br />Indicates unstable flow, lower operating <br />speeds than LOS D, some momentary stoppages. <br /> <br />Indicates forced flow operation at low <br />speeds where the street acts as a storage <br />area and there are many stoppages. <br /> <br /> <br />
