319 <br /> <br /> REL:mb(15) <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 90-087 6/12/90 <br /> Rev. 6/28/90 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA MAKING CERTAIN <br />FINDING WITH REGARD TO AMENDMENTS TO <br />THE 1988 EDITIONS OF THE UNIFORM BUILD- <br />ING CODE AND THE UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council proposes to approve ordinances <br />adopting the 1988 editions of the Uniform Building Code and the <br />Uniform Housing Code and other uniform codes published by the <br />International Conference of Building Officials; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council considers it necessary, <br />because of local climactic, geological or topographical <br />conditions, to amend certain building standards in the Uniform <br />Building Code and the Uniform Plumbing Code, 1988 editions, as <br />hereafter set forth; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to sections 17958.5, 17958.7 and <br />18941.5 of the Health and Safety Code of the State of California, <br />the City Council is required to make findings that such amendments <br />are necessary due to local climactic, geological, or topographical <br />conditions, and to file such findings, together with the amend- <br />ments, with the Department of Housing and Community Development <br />of the State of California; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> 1. Section 8-61 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code amends, <br />and will continue to amend, section 104 of the Uniform Building <br />Code as follows: <br /> <br />"Sec. 8-61. Fire protection requirements (Section 104(b)). <br /> <br /> Subsection (b) of Section 104 of the Building Code is <br />amended by adding thereto the following: <br /> <br /> EXCEPTION: If additions, alterations or repairs <br />made to any building constructed prior to January 1, <br />1946, other than an R-occupancy building, exceed <br />twenty thousand dollars ($20,000.00) in cost any one- <br />year period, then either (A) the entire building must <br />be completely sprinklered in accordance with fire <br />department standards, or (B) the building must comply <br />with all the following requirements: <br /> <br />The ceiling of a roof system shall be of <br />one-hour constructon, and all ceiling or <br />wall penetrations shall have approved fire <br />dampers. <br /> <br /> <br />
