Impact: A slight potential exists that the effects of dewatering, pile driving, and lateral deflection of excavation shorings may cause subsidence and/or lateral movement of soils on the project site. Finding: Changes or alterations have been required in, or incorporated Into the project, or are otherwise being implemented which will mitigate this Impact to a level of Insignificance, In that: (l) A pile driving monitoring and documentation program shall be conducted in accordance wlth recommendations contained In Sectlon 5.6 of Appendix E of the Draft EIR. The program shall be conducted by qualified professionals experienced at assessing residential distress. Selection of the consultant shall be approved by the City Engineer. (2) The program shall include a detailed preconstruction survey to document the present condition of all buildings and facilities within a radius of approximately 300 to 500 feet of the project as determined by the geotechnical consultant and the City Engineer. Photographs, crack surveys, and Installation of a reference benchmark beyond the zone of influence shall be Included in the preconstructlon survey. The program shall Include monitoring during pile-driving operations and inspection of properties following completion of operations. Impact: The project site Is expected to experience moderate to severe groundshaking in the event of a major earthquake on a regional fault. {The risk is no greater or lesser than for any other structures in the general area, however.)
