<br />On motion of COU~CilmaU Heinly, seconded by Schlueter and carried, the Minute Or-
<br />der adopted May 7, 1962, was rescinded, reference letter from the City Attorney
<br />
<br />requesting authorization for the Director of Public Works to enter into an agree-
<br />
<br />merit with Land Acquisition Service to fix the value of the property necessary to
<br />
<br />be taken as a preliminary step for the widening of Edinger Avenue from Broadway to
<br />Flower Street, State Gas Tax Project No. 136, and Edlnger Avenue from Flower Stree
<br />to Bristol Street, State Gas Tax Project No. 137.

<br />On motion of Cou~cilm~ Heinly, seconded by Schlueter and carried, the request of
<br />
<br />the Department of Public Works was granted~ and the plans and specifications
<br />
<br />approved, for Project 131, construction of Talbert Avenue (new) between a point
<br />
<br />approximately 600 feet east of Harbor Boulevard and Greenville Street; and Project
<br />132, construction of Fairview Street between Talbert Avenue (new) and Talbert Ave-
<br />nue (old).
<br />
<br />On motion of Counc~lm-n ~einly, seconded by Schlueter and carried, the written
<br />
<br />rec~m~endation of the Manager, dated May lC, 1962, was approved for salary step
<br />
<br />increases for nine employees, effective June l, 1962.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Schlueter and carried, the request of
<br />
<br />the Manager was approved for transfer of funds from Fund 23-265 Recreation and
<br />Parks Department-Civi~ Center Maintenance to Fund 2~-26~ Recreation and Parks-
<br />Price Property~ in the amount of $350.00.

<br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Schlueter and carried, the request of
<br />the Manager was approved for transfer of funds from unallocated reserve monies in
<br />Fund 51 General Capital Outls~ Fund to Fund 51-171 Finance Department-Accounting
<br />Division, in the amount of $1,5OO.OO.

<br />On motion of Counc~lm~u Heinly, seconded by Schlueter and carried, the request of
<br />
<br />the Purchasing Agent was approved, to sell by negotiation, whenever and wherever
<br />
<br />possible, obsolete spare street sweeper parts, per list submitted.

<br />On motion o~ Councilman Heinly, seconded by Schlueter and carried, the applicatioz
<br />
<br />of Santa Ana Unit ~131, American Legion Auxiliary, was approved to sell American
<br />
<br />Legion poppies on May 24, 25, and 26, 1962.

<br />On motion of Council-~n Heinly, seconded by Schlueter and carried, the applicatioz
<br />of Salk Building Fund, Orange County C~=.,fttee, was approved to solicit funds June
<br />1 to July 15, 1962, to build the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, San Diego.
<br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Schlueter and carried, the request of
<br />Alpha Beta A~e Markets, Inc., was granted to hold an auction May 23, 1962, of the
<br />equipment located in the market at 1010 South Main Street, as per list submitted.

<br />Auction to be conducted by Sol Megibow of Kohn-Megibow Company, Los Angeles.
<br />
<br />A petition was presented, signed by approximately seven persons, requesting the
<br />
<br />formation of an Assessment District over Posey Street, from Newhope Street wester-
<br />ly approximately 579 feet, for the construction of a 22.5 foot street with gutters
<br />and paving improvements; and for the construction of a sanitary sewer main, servi¢
<br />laterals, and manholes, Assessment District No. 223. On motion of Councilman
<br />
<br />Heinly, seconded by Brewer and carried, the petition was referred to the Depart-
