003 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 93-002 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA MAKING CERTAIN <br />FINDINGS WITH REGARD TO AMENDMENTS TO <br />THE 1991 EDITIONS OF UNIFORM PLI/MBING <br />CODE AND THE UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council proposes to approve an ordinance <br />adopting the 1991 editions of the uniform codes published by the <br />International Conference of Building Officials; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council considers it necessary, because of <br />local climactic, geological or topographical conditions, to amend <br />certain building standards in the Uniform Plumbing Code and the <br />Uniform Mechanical Code, 1991 editions, as hereinafter set forth; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to sections 17858.5, 17958.7 and 18941.5 of <br />the Health and Safety Code of the State of California, the City <br />Council is required to make findings that such amendments are <br />necessary due to local climactic, geological, or topographical <br />conditions, and to file such findings, together with the <br />amendments, with the Department of Housing and Community <br />Development of the State of California; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> 1. As amended, section 316 of the Uniform Plumbing Code, <br />1991 edition, will read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 316 - Hangers and Supports <br /> <br />(a) Vertical Piping <br /> <br /> Attachment - Vertical piping shall be secured at <br />sufficiently close intervals to keep the piping in alignment <br />and carry the weight of the piping and its contents. Stacks <br />shall be supported at their bases, and as follows: <br /> <br />(1) Cast iron soil pipe - Cast iron soil pipe shall be <br />supported at every story or closer. <br /> <br />(2) Screwed pipe - Screwed pipe (IPS) shall be supported <br />at not less than every other story height. <br /> <br />(3) Copper tubing - Copper tubing shall be supported at <br />each story or at maximum intervals of ten (10) feet (3 <br />m). <br /> <br /> <br />
