L. and Juanita <br />Conkle <br />Ordinance <br /> <br />On recommendation of the Manager, and on motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by <br />Schlueter and carried, the lowest and best bid of A. H. Famularo was accepted at <br />the unit prices and in the total amount of $24,326.64, and all other bids rejected.ii <br />Councilman Brewer stated the Council has been aware of the traffic situation at the <br />intersection of Edinger Avenue and Greenville Street, and since the removal of the <br />stop signs there has been an increase in vehicular traffic and school children. <br />was moved by Counci!mau Brewer, seconded by Schlueter and carried~ that the stop <br /> <br />signs which were removed six months ago at said intersection, be Immediately re- <br />placed, with proper street markings; and the Department of Public Works be instru~! <br />ed to make a finding as to the best location for a mechanical traffic control devi( <br />at either Edinger Avenue and Greenville Street or Edinger Avenue and Center Street <br />and present the Council with the information regarding the cost of installation an~ <br />location at the next meeting. John C. Briley~ 2218 West Borchard, expressed appre- <br />ciation, on behalf of the residents in the area, for the Council's consideration of <br />the problem. <br /> <br />This being the date set for hearing on Amendment Application No. ~81, filed by L. <br /> <br />L. and Juanita Conkle, amending Sectional District Map 16-5-10, to reclassify fram <br />the A-1 District to the R-3 and C-1 Districts, property at the northeast corner of <br />Verano and Sugar Streets, all as shown on Exhibit A .A. ~81A; Planning Commission <br /> <br />recommended approval of Exhibit A.A. sS1c, rezoning all property to the R-4 Distri¢ <br /> 4122 West Kent Avenue~ <br />C~mication was presented/Stanley ~ J, Jr.~ and Dorothy L. Hadsel~requesting <br /> <br />denial of Amendment Applicatio~ ~81, and rec~ending the adoption by the Council <br />of Special Study 19 so this area may remain a residential area, as it is becoming <br />one of the better areas in the City. Communication was presented fr~m Attorney <br />Robert S. Barnes, lO16 North Broadway, constituting an appeal from the action of <br />the Planning C¢~ssion in denying requests for reclassification of certain proper-' <br />ty. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Schlueter and carried, the commu~ <br />ications were received and filed. Douglas Clark, 1510 North Mar-Less Drive, state <br />he felt that Special Study 19, adopted by the Planning C~mission, was against the <br />construction of multiple apartment dwellings in the area in question; and quoted <br />sections of Resolution 55~7, adopted by the Planning C~m~ission April 2, 1962. <br />Delbert W. Michael, 917 South Toland Street, stated this was not a hardship case <br />as the property had been sold as R-l; and the residents had hopes of getting Speci~ <br />St into action to insure the future of the area. Attorney Robert S. Barnes, <br /> <br />10i6 North Broadway~ presented a statement from Shell Oil Company confirming the <br />plans and intention to construct a special two-bay ranch style service station <br />(with pergola) on the subject location, if proper zoning is granted. On motion of <br />Councilm~u Hubbard, seconded by Schlueter and carried, the statement was received <br />and filed. Mr. Barnes stated a Variance would probably be filed if the request fo~ <br />a zone change was denied. Arturo Mirano~ 630 South Corta Drive, stated he had pre. <br />sented affidavits at a previous meeting, and now he wished to restate that the res~ <br />dents still desire the area to remain predominately residential. Hearing closed. <br />The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Ordinance, on motion of <br />Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Schlueter and carried, the following Ordinance en- <br />titled: <br /> <br /> "Ordinance amendi~ Article ~( ef the Santa Ana Municipal Code to <br /> change District Classification on Amendment Application No. B81 <br /> and amending Sectional District Map 16-5-10 (Exhibit A.A. 381C)" <br /> <br /> <br />
