/76 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> November 5, 1962 <br /> <br />The meeting was c,]led to order at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber, Santa Aha City Hall, with the following Coucilmen <br />present: Royal E. Hubbard, James Gilmore, Bob Brewer, and Mayor A. Allen Hall. Mayor Hall led the Pledge of AllegianCe <br />to the flag following which the Invocation was given by the Reverend Delwin Thigpen, Spurgeon Methodist Church. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OW MINUTES <br /> <br />BIDS <br />A.D. 218 <br />CA-90 <br /> <br />TRAFFIC CABLE <br />CA-89 <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Brewer, seconded by Councilman Hubbard and carried, Minutes of the <br />Regular Meeting of October 15, 1962, were approved as submitted~ except for a correction <br />to show that Councilman Gilmore disqualified himself from action in the matter of Assess- <br />ment District No. 218. <br /> <br />Council received a report from the City Manager relative to estimated individual assess- <br />ments for the construction of sewers in Assessment District 218. <br /> <br />Councilman Gilmore disqualified himself from action in this matter. On motion of Council- <br />man Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Brewer and carried, action on Assessment District 218 <br />was postponed until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 1962 in the Council Chambers so <br />that property owners could be notified of individual estimated costs. Douglas Clark, <br /> <br />1510 Mar-Less Drive, objected to the inconvenience of the hour for many people. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard seconded by Councilman Brewer and carried, Council awarded <br />to Electric Supply Distributing Company a contract to furnish traffic cable in the amount <br /> <br />of $1,917.80. No other bids were received. <br /> <br />THERMOPLASTIC CROSS- <br />WALK MARKINGS <br />CA-89 <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Counci!m~u Gilmore and carried, Council <br />awarded to Traffic Appliance Corporation a contract for installing crosswalk markings in <br /> <br />the amount of $5,727.50. No other bids were received. <br /> <br />FIRE ALARM CABLE <br />CA-89 <br /> <br />On motion of CounciLman Hubbard, seconded by Councllm-u Brewer and carried, Council <br />awarded to Maydwell & Hartzell a contract for fire alarm cable in the amount of $8,967.52. <br /> <br />No other bids were received. <br /> <br />HEARING <br />APPEAL ~70- VA 1679 <br />AC~ER AMBUL~CE <br />CA-i~ <br /> <br />Mayor Hall opened the hearing on Appeal Application #70, filed by William Acker for an <br /> <br />extension of variance to operate an ambulance service at 2227 S. Bristol Street. There <br /> <br />being no response to the Mayor's call for testimony, the hearing was closed. It was moved <br />by Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Brewer and unanimously carried, that Counci~ <br />waive further reading and adopt a resolution approving Variance 1679 for one year, subJec~ <br /> <br />to conditions recommended by the Planning and Public Works Departments, the painting of <br /> <br />structures, and the paving of front yard area. On roll call vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: <br />Noes: <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Councilmen Hubbard, Gilmore, Brewer, Hall <br />None <br />Councilman Schlueter <br /> <br />HEARING <br />APPEAL ~71 - VA 1685 <br />CA-J3 <br /> <br />Mayor Hall opened the hearing on Appeal Application 71, filed by the Planning Department <br /> <br />to add conditions ~mttted from VA 1685. Mrs. Claire Dorsey, 1414 N. Broadway, spoke on <br /> <br />behalf of the applicant stating that applicant agreed to the changes made. There being <br />no further testSrmuy, the hearing was closed. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded <br />by Councilman Brewer and unanimously carried, Council waived the reading and adopted <br />"RESOLUTION NO. 62-195 ADDING CONDITIONS TO A VARIANCE GRANTED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> <br />ON VARIANCE APPLICATION NO. 1685." On roll call vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilmen Hubbard, Gilmore, Brewer, Hall <br />Noes: None <br />Absent: Councilman Schlueter <br /> <br /> <br />
