On roll call <br />vote: <br /> <br />Ayes, Councilmen: <br />Noes, Councflmen: <br />Absent~ Councilmen: <br /> <br />Hubbard, Schlueter, Gilmore, Brewer~ Hall <br />None <br />None <br /> <br />STREET SERVICES On motion of Councilman Brewer, <br /> seconded by Councila~n Hubbard, <br /> and carried, Council approved <br />for a six months period the request fro~Apostolic Jesus Name Church to <br />conduct street services on Fridays, 6:00 pom. to 7:00 p.m. on the south <br />side of Broadway at Fourth or at Bush and Fourth~ <br /> <br />SOLICITATION REQUEST On~ motion of Councilman Brewer, <br /> seconded by Councilman Hubbard, <br /> and carried, Council granted <br />permission to t~e Orange COo Voiture 527, 40 and 89 to solicit funds through <br />May 5~ 1963o <br /> <br />LIBRARY BOARD ~ayor Hall announced that a num- <br /> ber of suggestions and endorsements <br /> had been made to fill the vacancy <br />on the Library Board of Trustees, and suggested appointment be made of three, <br />composed of Councilmen Hubbard, Schlueter and himself, to study the qualifica- <br />tions of the applicants. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Council- <br />man Schlueter and carried, Council approved appointment of Mayor Hall, Council- <br />man Hubbard and Councilm-u Schlueter as a committee to review the qualifica- <br />tions of the candidates and submit a recommendation to the Council, and received <br />and ordered filed a petition signed by approximately 730 persons endorsing <br />~Tohn Kinney° <br /> <br />STRoll' BANNERS 0n motion of Councilman Brewer, <br /> seconded by Councilman Hubbard and <br /> carried, Council denied the request <br />from Orange County Heart Association to place a Heart Fund campaign banner across <br />Fourth Street at Main° <br /> <br />CROSSING GUARD It was moved by Counci]m-u Brewer, <br /> seconded by Councilman Hubbard and <br /> carried, that the request for an <br />adult crossing guard at Seventeenth and Spurgeon made by Mrs. L. Jo Johnson, be <br />referred to the staff for investigation and report at the meeting of February <br /> <br />CLOSE-OUT S~T.'I~'~J On motion of Councilman Gilmore, <br /> seconded by Councilm~u Hubbard and <br /> carried, Council received and ordered <br />filed a letter from Hal Winter, Manager of the Downtown Santa Ana Association re- <br />questing more definite restrictions in the holding of close-out sales by merchants; <br />and directed the.
