The Director <br />of Public Works stated that his department would make an investigation of the <br />request. <br /> <br />SANTA AHA JR. HIOH SCHOOL On motion of CouncflmA~ Hubbard, <br />SIT".' seconded by Councilman Schlueter <br /> and carried, Council received amd <br /> ordered filed a report da~ed April <br />10, 1963 from the Chairman of the Santa Ann Planning Cmmaission rec~ending <br />approval of the Santa Ann School Districts proposed new Junior high school. <br /> <br />HOUSING LEGISLATION Scotty William., 1430 West Third <br /> Street, read a resolution adopted <br /> by the Santa Aaa Branch of the <br /> National Association of Colored <br />People, and requested the City Cotmcil to adopt a similar resolution urging <br />the adoption of legislation to prevent discrimimation in housing. 0ouncil <br />also heard Alfred Heisser, 606 South Towmsend, and Harriett Woodertts, <br />312 North Forest Avenue, who supported the resolution. Richard J. Lou~hlin, <br />Executive Vice-President of the Santa Ana-Or~-~e-Tustin Board of Realtors, <br />801 North Garnsey, spoke in opposition to the proposed legislation but <br />suggested the Board of Realtors work with the NAACP to solve any such <br />problems in Santa Ans. <br /> <br />It was the opinion of the Council that it could not conscientiously support <br />the current legislation before the State Legislature, but Mayor Hall expressed <br />the hope that the members of the NAAOPwouldmeetwith the Real Estate Board <br />as suggested hymn. Loughlin. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Harvey, seconded by Councilman Hubbard and carried, <br />Council received and ordered filed the c~unication from the NAACP and <br />referred the matter to the Council as a whole to work with the NAACP and <br />the Santa Ana-Orange-TustinReal Estate Board in trying to solve discrimination <br />problems in housing in Santa Ans. <br /> <br />SOLICITATION REQUEST <br /> <br />annual Blue Daisy Sale on April 19, 1963. <br /> <br />On motion of Counc~lm-u Hubbard, <br />seconded by Counc~lm~ Harvey nnd <br />carried, Blue Star Mothers was <br />granted permission to conduct their <br /> <br />VARIANCE APP. 175h On motion of Councilman Hubbard, <br /> seconded by Counctlm~n Harvey and <br /> carried, Council received and <br /> ordered filed the Santa Ann <br />Planning Commission's report relative to dedication of 10.5 feet of property <br />at 212 S.
