MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />May RO, 1963 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. Roll call was answered by <br />Councilmen Hubbard, Harvey, Gilmore, Schlueter and Mayor Hall. Following <br />the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, the Invocation was delivered by the <br />Reverend Quinn Beebe of St. Luke's Methodist Church. <br /> <br />MINUTES APPROVAL <br /> <br />On motion of Counc~lmsn Hubbard, seconded <br />by Councilman Schlueter and carried, the <br />Council approved the minutes of the Regular <br />Meeting of May 6, 1963. <br /> <br />BID AWARD On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded <br />RECONSTRUCTION OF by Councilman Harvey and carried, Council <br />EUCLID AVENUE received and ordered filed a tabulation <br /> of bids received for the reconstruction <br />of Euclid Avenue; approved award of the contract to Warren Southwest Inc. <br />in the amount of $28,612.60; and rejected all other bids. <br /> <br />BID~...AWARD - FIFTH On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded <br />STREE£ PARKING LOT by Councilman Schlueter and carried, <br /> Council received and ordered filed a <br /> tabulation of bids received for the <br />construction of a parking lot on Fifth Street; approved award of the contract <br />to Miller-Bonsall Company in the amount of $8,660.15; and rejected all other <br />bids. <br /> <br />HEARING APPEAL 8h, Mayor Hall opened the hearing on Appeal <br />VA 176~SY DEV. CO. 84 filed by SY Development and McFadden <br /> Homes, appealing Conditions 13 and l~ <br /> imposed by the Planning Comission in <br />its approval of Variance Application 1760 to construct apartments on C 4 <br />property at Fairview and Sullivan Streets. <br /> <br />Council heard Dale H. Heinly~ 611 West 8th Street, attorney for the <br />appellant, who protested full improvement of Sullivan Street at the <br />beginning of the development, and the paving of a 5' sidewalk on Fairview <br />before any utilities are released. Because of the size of the property, <br />the developer asked to construct street improvements in stages. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Harvey and carried, <br />Council approved.a change in Condition 14 to allow sidewalk construction <br />on Fairview in tWo~'stages, and in Condition 13 to order street improvements <br />on Sullivan to be constructed all at one time, with the City constructing <br />the emit side of Sullivan e~ncurrently. <br /> <br />HEARING APPEAL 83, Mayor Hall opened the hearing on Appeal <br />VA 1759, Bowms~ 83 filed by Thomas J. Bowman, appealing <br /> the Planning Commission's denial of <br /> Variance Application 1759 to construct <br />a new wrecking yard office and sales building in the C 2 and R 2 districts <br />at 3117 W. 5th Street. <br /> <br />City Council - lO0 - May 20, 1963 <br /> <br /> <br />
