Regar~Ling ~1 Incceae, there is p~ssihility play will not <br />be resumed by ~ctober let and therefore est~mte is conservative; that sch~ls <br />will not be asked to c~ntribute ~ore this first year. Re~rdin~ Park~-~ for Be~ers <br />i~Asema, that City as any other developer ~ust provide off street parking_, cost <br />per stall is ~,000 to ~,500; that M~Aseu~ grant will not allow trading in any <br />way of proper~y. Regardi~ Street l~l~rov~__ents,thatit~s i~poseibla to finance <br />more than one or two ~a~or i~preve~ents at c~e time, requiring two to three years <br />allocation for each. Regarding Attorney's office, that it w~uld be less ece~ical <br />and actually i~possible to employ specialist fullt~ae who could handle ve~iety of <br />special situations that arise; that the $10,000 allocati~a is not provided for <br />payment for special counsel in Newport-Dyer annexatic~ proceedings. Regarding <br />Police Metorcyelns, that meder~ trend is to use more cars except in special <br />situations requiri~ ~aneuverability. Regarding Police~-~ that review will be <br />he'Id throughout year to see that e~le is adequate, that wc~en employed in other <br />capacities on ehifcs are available at,all ti~es. Hegard~-~ Printing end Rin~ing, <br />that constant revie~ is mointained by departments to effect ec~ncm~. <br />Ce~ensatiem Xnsurance, that it is a poBBibility for the future but that <br />questions re~in unaaswere~ at present; that the risks are great and that a special <br />attorney would need to be hired. Regarding ~ivil Defense, that it is considered <br />a necessary expenditure the: v~lue of which ~ay not be recognized until there is <br />a national e~ergency or natt~ral ~isaster; that the consolidation with onnother <br />department would not reduce the expe~liture. <br /> <br />Nrc Winter asked for ec~e assurance that a c~lete downtown lighting study <br />would be commenced in ~he 1~-65 Bad,et. The City Maz~ger c~mented that such <br />a study would cost about $700,000 and an allocation in the 1~-6~ Budget would <br />be required for about <br /> <br />Mr. Winter co~nented fux~cher on street improvements in the s~thern sections, <br />saying that developers of ~d should be required to put in the improvements, and <br />that more consideration should be ~iven to the area closer downtown. <br /> <br />There being no further testimony, the hearing was closed.
