APP. ~8 Mayor Hall opened the hearing on KLA~ Amendment Application ~68 filed by Johnny Klassen to reclassify property on the north side of McFadden between Harbor and Newhope from the A 1 to the R 2 District. Planning Commission Resolution 5646 recmmmended approval of Exhibit AA ~68 A. The Clerk reported that notice of the hearing was published in The Register on August 24, ~196~, and no written c~ama~nications or objections had been received. Mr. La~-y Golden, 110 W. First Street, spoke on behalf of the applicant stating that $26,500 duplex buildings were planned for that area. Mr. Delbert Michael, 917 S. Toland speaking for the Homeowner's Association amd families in area stated they wanted assurance that the buildings would not in any way depreciate the value of their homes. Mr. Frank E. Rorpel, Jr., 1620 Kent Lane, Newport Beach, assured him that he, himself, wanted a good return for his investment in the ~uilding of the duplexes, therefore, they would not depreciate the area. Mr. ArturoMoreno, 6BO S. Corta asked if any possibility of a variance could be put in under R 2. Mayor Hall replied not under thi~ application° Mr. Golden noted a portion of property is already R 2. Mrs. M. Cenkar~ 806 S. Ridge Drive, said if the duplexes were built as stated, and not two-story buildings they were in favor of them. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Gilmore and carried, Council approved the reclassification and instructed the City Attorney to prepare an amending ordinance according to E~hibit AA ~68A. ~2AMEND. APP. ~69 Hearing was opened on Amendment pENNALL Application ~69, filed by Francis Penhall to reclassify from the R 2 to the C 5 District property on the south side of F~inger between Greenville and Fairview. Planning C~mmissi~m Resolution 56~7 recommended approval of Exhibit AA k69 A. The Clerk reported that notice of the hearing was published in The Register on August 24, 196B, and no written communications or objections had been received. Mr. John J. Elliott, 9~86 Garden Grove Boulevard, Garden Grove, representing the applicant, requested Council concur in findings of Planning Commission and rezone property as recummended.
