On motion of CounciLman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Harvey and carried, the <br />hearing was continued to November 4, 1963, 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers. <br /> <br />HEARING - Mayor Hall opened th~ nearing on <br />A. A. 460 Amendment Application ~60 filed by <br />ENGLISH Gerald English to reclassify from the <br /> R 1 to the R 3 District property on <br />the west side of King Street between 17th and 14th Streets. On August 5, 1963, <br />after public hearing, Council referred the matter back to the Plan~tng C~,w, tssion <br />for reconsideration and rec~w, endation, and on August 12, 1963 applicant verbally <br />amended application to request R ~ instead of R 3. The Clerk reported that <br />notice of the hearing was properly given aud evidence thereof was on file, and <br />that no written communications or objections had been filed. <br /> <br />Arthur Nisson, 2014 North Broadway, attorney for the applicant, stated that a <br />satisfactory compromise had been achieved between the developers and adjacent <br />property owners, and that the Planning C~ission now recommended R ~. He urged <br />the speed-up of improvements on King Street by elbowing the street at Washington <br />Street. <br /> <br />Walter Brooks, 2002 West 15th Street, spokesman for the original protestants, <br />stated that his group was in favor of the R 4 zoning and would trust to the <br />integrity of the Planning Cvmmission and builders in carrying out the stipulated <br />conditions on file. <br /> <br />Bill Robinson, 1515 North King Street, spoke in opposition, and stated that if <br />C~A~cil approved the reclassification, he rec~ended the following conditions: <br />(1) that a six foot solid wall be erected along King Street to the east side of <br />the property and along the area which is presently zoned for duplex on the south; <br />and (2) that no entrance be made to enter opposite an existing residence. There <br />bei~ no further testimony, the hearing was closed. <br /> <br />It was m~ved by Councilman Hubbard and seconded by Councilman Harvey and carried, <br />that the City Council approve the reclassification and instruct the City <br />Attorney to prepare an amending ordinance according to Exhibit AA ~60 C. <br /> <br />HEARING - ZONING Mayor Hall opened the hearing on the <br />ORD. AM~tD. RE. Planning Commission Resolution 56~, <br />NEWBPAPER~ES recommending an amendment to Section <br /> 9230.261 to add the publicati~u and <br />circulation of newspapers as a permitted use in the C 5 District. There being <br />no response to the call for testimony, the hearing was closed. <br /> <br />On motion of Coumcllm-~ Hubbard~ seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, <br />the Council approved the proposed amendment and instrmcted the City Attorney to <br />prepare an appropriate amending ordinance. <br /> <br />w~ARING - BRISTOL & Mayor Hall opened the heari~ on the <br />GARDEN GROVE FRY. proposed annexation of territory <br />S. The Clerk <br />reported that notice of the hearing was published and mailed as required by <br />law, that evidence thereof was on file, and that no written protests had been <br />received.
