CITY OF SA~I ~NA, CALIF0PNIA October ?, 1963 The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. in the Cou~xcil Chambers, 217 North Main Street. Roll call was answered by Councilmen Royal E. Hubbard, Harry H. Harvey, Henry H. Schlue~er, and Mayor A. Allen Hall. Cou~ucilman James Gilmore was absent. Following the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, the Invocation vas delivered by the Reverend Garland Lacey, Wilshire Presbyterian Church. APPROVAL OF MINUTES On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, the City Council approved as mailed the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of September 16, 1963. BID AWARD - WIDF~'IN~3 i?TH~ On mo%ion of Councilman Hubbard, BUSH TO SFu~RGEON seconded by CounciLman Schlueter and carried, Council received and ordered filed a report of bids received for the widening of 17th Sbree~ between Bush and Spurgeon Streets; approved award of contract to R. J. Noble Company in the amount of ~5,714.87 at unit prices; and rejected all other bids. BID AWARD - T~UCK On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Harvey and carried, Council received and ordered filed a report of bids received for one truck, 19, O00 0.V.~.; approved award of contract to George Dunton Incorporated in the amount of $~,613.30; and rejected all other bids. BID AWARD - 16 TON On motion of Councilman Hubbard, WRECKEF~ & BODY seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, Council received and ordered filed a report of bids received for one 16 ton wrecker and body; approved award of contract to Co~ercial Truck Bodies in the amount of $2,~25.00; and rejected all other bids. HEARING Mayor Hall opened the hearing on Appeal APPEAL 9~ - Application 92 filed by John V. Sarinana SAEINANA from the Planning Commission's denial of Variance 1815 to construct a ~6 unit, two-story apartment development on R i property at 2020 W. 8th. The Clerk reported that notice of the hearing was given by the Planning Department as required by law, and that no written communications or objections had been received. The Clerk reported that the appellant, in his appeal application, had requested that the matter be referred back to the Planning Commission for consideration of 16 single-story units instead of the original 26 two-story units requested. There being no response to the Mayor's call for testimony, the hearing was closed. On motion of Councilman Nsbbard, seconded by Councilman Harvey and carried, Appeal Application 92 was refer~gd back to the Planning Co~nission for reconsideration. CITY COUNCIL - 212 - October 7, 1963
