Broadway, applicant, cited the m~ny signatures he had favoring the change to C 2, the plsnning Staff's rec ....... endation for CM zoning with which he concurred, and the Co~ission's subsequent denial. The Planntn~ Director explained that the PlanntB~ Commission felt that the area was proper for commercial zoning, but because of the residences still there, it would be advisable to delay rezoning and develop by variances. There being no further testimony, the hearing was closed. On motion of Councllmsn Harvey, seconded by Councilman Hubbard and carried, C~uncil approved thc reclassification and instructed the City Attorney to prepare an ordinance according to Exhibit AA 470 B. HEARING Mayor Nail opened the hearing on Amendment AMEND. APP. 472 - Application 472 filed by R. Perry Davis to DAVIS reclassify from the R 3 and P to the R 3 B end PB District property on the south side of l~th Street between Main and Broadway. Planning Comission Resolution 5650 recnmmended approval of Exhibit AA 472 A. There being no response to the ~ayor's call for testimony, the hearing was closed. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, secouded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, the City Council approved the reclassification and instructed the City Attorney to prepare an amending ordinance according to Exhibit AA 472 A. HEARING - SECOND Mayor Hail opened the hearing on proposed STREET VACATION vacation of a portion of a street running north from First along the west line of the Southern California Railway Depot grounds and a portl~ of Second Street running from said west line easterly to the track of said railway ccmpany. The Clerk reported that notice of the hearing was published in The Register on September 14, 1963, and that no written ccamunications or objections had been received, but that the Public Works Department had requested the hearing be continued. It was moved by Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilmau Schlueter and carried, that the matter be continued to November 4, 1963 at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers. DECLARING ORDINANCE NS-690 DECLARING THE ANNEXATION OF TERRITORT DESIGNATED "BRISTOL STR~mT AND GAEDEN GROVE FREEWAY SOUT~-AST A~m~" was read by title. It was moved by CounciLman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Schlueter, that further reading be waived and Ord~ma~ce NS-690 be adopted.
