<br />The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 217 N.
<br />Main Street. Roll call was answered by Councilmen Royal E. Hubbard, Harry H.
<br />Harvey, James Gilmore, Henry Schlueter and Mayor A. Allen Hall. Following
<br />the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, the Invocatien was delivered by the
<br />Reverend Bennie C. Flint, First Baptist Church.

<br />APPROVAL OF MII~JTES On motion of Councilman Hubbard,
<br /> seconded by Councilman Schlueter
<br /> and carried, the Minutes of the
<br /> Regular Meeting of March 16, 196~,
<br />and the Adjourned Regular Meeting of March 30, 196~ were approved as mailed.
<br />
<br /> PROPERTY SALE On motion of Councilman Hubbard,
<br /> seconded by Councilman Harvey and
<br /> carried, Council instructed the
<br /> Clerk to open the one sealed bid
<br />received on unimprove~ parcel north of alley behind fire station on 17th
<br />.Street. The Clerk read the bid frcm Allison Honer Company, 1073 W. 17th,
<br />in the amottnt of $12,000. The Mayor called for oral bids, and received a
<br />bid of $12,900 from Jehn L. Sentesy, 1728 W. 17th Street. Richard Honer,
<br />representing Allison Honer Co., bid $13,500. The biddlng thereafter was as
<br />

<br />There being no further response to three further calls for bids, the property
<br />was declared sold to Allison Honer Cce~may in the amount of $17,200. A
<br />written statement of bid and cashier's check for $2,000 were deposited with
<br />the Clerk.

<br />HEARING - Mayor Hall opened the hearing on
<br />A~. APP. ~87 Amendment Application ~87 filed by
<br />PETERS Walter and Bertha Peters proposing
<br /> to amend Sectional District Map
<br />13-5-10by reclassifying fr~nthe R 1 to the C 5 district, property on the
<br />north side of Myrtle between Baker and Bristol. Planning Co-~.~ssion Resolution
<br />5677 rec~,mended denial of the proposal.
<br />
<br />The Clerk reported that evidence of giving notice of the hearing was on file
<br />in the Clerk's office and that no ~itten communications had been received.
<br />
<br />Council heard~r, and~rs. Walter A. Peters, 1241Myrtle, applicants, who
<br />outlined their plan to establish a typewriter repair shop in the garage. Mr.
<br />Peters stated that he would not object to havi~ a variance instead of a zene
<br />mhange if the business could be expanded or continued after his death. There
<br />being no further testim~, the hearing was closed. Vice Mayor Hubbard stated
<br />he had no objection to proposed use but was concerned about setting a precedent
<br />for street by a zone change.
