City of Santa Ana RFP for Traffic Counting Services, PROJECT 5512 <br />Relevant Past Experience and References <br />Southland Car Counters has performed numerous traffic /transit data collection analysis for <br />clients /jurisdictions throughout California, Nevada, Arizona, and several other states. We <br />currently have more than 180 clients on our active /repeat customer list. We have highlighted <br />the programs discussed below because of relevance to the City of Santa Ana requirements: <br />City of Santa Ana -1995 to 2003 <br />In 1995 SCC was awarded athree-year contract for citywide Traffic Data Services. This <br />contract was re-competed in 1999 and 2001, and again awarded to SCC. Contract annual <br />requirements are approximately: <br />• 300 ADT counts <br />• 35 ITM counts <br />• Additionally 50+ ADT, ITM, and Speed studies, annually, on an as required basis. <br />• Reference: <br />Ci ontact Phone <br />Ci of Santa Ana Will Buller 714-647-5612 <br />Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) <br />SCC was selected for four sign cant OCTA Traffic Data Services contracts /studies. <br />• References: <br />Cit~Com~anY ~ Contact ~ Phone ~ <br />Orange County Transportation 714-560-5716 <br />Transportation Authority Plalllllrig <br /> Ric Teano <br />Orange County $~ Operations 714-560-5945 <br />Transportation Authority Ed Buckle <br />OCTA Intersection Traffic Data Collection - 2003, 2001, 1999, & 1997 <br />OCTA awarded SCC a countywide contract to complete approximately 700 intersection turning <br />movement counts over a 90-day period. SCC was the Prime contractor with a major <br />professional engineering company as our sub contractor. <br />OCTA Bus Schedule Checking Contract -1996-1998 and 2001-2004 <br />OCTA awarded SCC athree-year contract to perform approximately 10,000 hours of schedule <br />checking per year for three years. The schedule-checking program has allowed OCTA to <br />improve scheduling, perform their duties more efficiently, and more cost effectively as a result of <br />the data collected. Schedule changes initiated as a result of the study are saving OCTA ~ $1 <br />million per year, increased ridership, and enhanced riders perception of OCTA's service and <br />commitment. Data collected was in the following categories: <br />• Collection of ridership information, breaking it down by bus stop and fee collection method. <br />• Perform Federal bus runs (Sect. 15). <br />• Perform comer checks (collecting bus data at various locations). <br />OCTA Bus Sign and Bus Stop Equipment Inventory/Study -1996 <br />OCTA awarded SCC a contract to take an inventory of all bus stops to include: <br />• Sign inventory of all bus signs on OCTA routes. <br />• Curb and shelter measurements to confirm ADA standards (countywide). <br />• Measurement and record detailed descriptions of bus stop locations. <br />3o May 2003 Southland Car Counters <br />2 <br />
