HEARING - ~earimg was opened on Amendment AA 562 - VASI Application 562 filed by Anthony D. Vasi proposing the amendment of Sectional District Map 15-5-10 by reclassifying from the A 1 to the C 2 district, property on the east side of Harbor between McFadden and Camile. Plaguing Commission Resolution 5750 recommended approval. Anthony Vasi, 1556 N. Beverly Court, Oatario~ pointed out his property was now zoned ccm~ercial to a depth of 150' while adjacent properties are zoned to a depth of 300' to 600', a~d offered to answer a~y questions. The Plammimg Director amswered a question from Del Michael, 917 S. Tolamd~ regarding the distance to the school ground after which he had no objection. It was moved by Co,,wcilmam Burk, seconded by Coumcilma~ Beooks and carried, that Council approve the reclassification amd instruct the City Attorney to prepare am amending ordinance according to Exhibit AA 562A. Kocha~ proposing the amendment of Sectional District Map 9-5-10 by reclassifying from the R 1 to the C 5 district property on the east side of LaBonita between Westminster and 16th. pl~wimg C~ission Resolution 5751 recommended denial. Marion L. Kochan, 6975 Long Beach Boulevard, Long Beach, applicant, stated he had not been notified of Planning Commission hearing and asked why a denial had been recommended. The hearimg was closed. The Plan~img Director reported that only publication and posting of zone cha~ge hearings was required; that the Plam~i~g Ccemaissl~ has traditionally approved the expansion of existing commercial zones, but they were reluctant to re-zone a small lot 275' south of 17th Street. Mayor McNichael even though he did not disagree with Plauaimg Co~nission recommendation, suggested that the application be returned to the Plam~i~g C~ission and the applicaut be given a chance to present his case. A motion by Councilma~ Brooks, seconded by Councilman Markel that Coumcil deny the reclassification was lost. Newcemb proposing the amendment of Sectional District Map 5-5-9 by reclassifying from the A i to the C 5 district property on the west side of Tustim between Santa Clara and Fairhaven. Plawwimg Cemmissiow Reso~utiom 5752 rec~ended approval of E~hibit 56~ B which would reclassify to the LP amd C 5 districts. John Conley, 12961 Greenwood Drive, Oramge, representimg the applicamt, stated zones requested were proper in accordamce with uses i~ area and offered to amswer a~y questions.
