Banks proposing the amend- <br /> ment of Sectional District Map <br />13-5-10 by reclassifying from the R i to the R B district, property om <br />the north side of West Cubbon between South B~istol and South Baker. <br />Plaguing Commission Resolution 5749 reccm=~ended approval. <br /> <br />Paul V. Banks, 1610 S. Flower, applicant, presented a petition with <br />about 12 s~gmatures of residents with no objections to the reclassi- <br />fication. Edward L. Elizalde, 1213 W. Cubbon, speaking em behalf of <br />neighboring residents presented a petition stating their opposition <br />because two-story apartments would damage the R 1 area; would eventually <br />raise the taxes; a~d would create traffic hazards because of the ~arrow <br />street amd increased usage. Ralph Drennam, 1918 Woodland Place, stated <br />that his property would he difficult to rent if dominated by two-story <br />apartments. There being no further testimony, the hearing was closed. <br /> <br />The Plam~ing Director s,,-.,arized the attitude of the Planning C~w~esion <br />on this area, stating there is everything frcm commercial to apartments, <br />amd when they recommended approval of this application they set a <br />study session on a resolution of intention to l~itiate rezoai~g of the <br />area; that a conflict already exists and because of age of ho~es they <br />may benefit from change of zone. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Brooks, seconded by Councilman Herrim amd <br />carried, that Council approve the reclassification and instruct the <br />City Attorney to prepare am amending ordinance according to E~hihit <br />AA 558 A. <br /> <br />HEARING - Nearing was opened om Amendment <br />AA 561 - G~rLF OIL Applicatiom 561 filed by Gulf <br /> Oil Corp. proposing the amend- <br /> meat of Sectional District Map <br />6-5-9 by reclassifying from the R 1 to the C 5 district, property om <br />the southeast corner of Grand and Santa Clara. pla~img Cvmmission <br />Resolution 57~8 recrm~mended approval of E~hibit 561 B which would <br />reclassify to the C 5 district all of the property except am approximate <br />150' x 150' at the corner. <br /> <br />V. N. Je~sen, attorney representing the applicant, stated that the <br />staff's concern over the corner had been alleviated by agreement to file <br />a variance but it had been agreed that it should be approximately 125' x <br />125' instead of the 150' x 150' noted in the agenda.
