MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR ME~TING <br /> OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TNE CITY OF <br /> SANTA AMA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />September 30, 1965 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 2:02 p.m. in the Council Chamber, <br />217 N. Main Street. Roll call was answered by Councilmen James Gilmore, <br />Walter Brooks, J. Ogden Markel, Tc~ McMichael~ and Mayor ]{arry N. Harvey. <br />Councilmen Davis Burk and Wade Herrin were absent. <br /> <br />The Clerk reported that notice of the Adjourned Regular Meeting had been <br />posted as required by law and evidence thereto was on file in the Office <br />of the Clerk. <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION Russell Patch, Co-Chairman <br />GUESTS - EL SALVADOR of the Santa Ana People-to- <br /> People Program~ introduced <br /> Joaquin F. Garcia, Emilio A. <br />Izaquirre A., and Jesus p~neda, frem Santa Ana~ E1 Salvador, volunteer <br />firemen training in Santa Aha to operate the fire engine donated to E1 <br />Salvador by the City of Santa Aha. Mayor Narvey presented the visitors <br />with flags of the United States. <br /> <br />RES. 65-149 <br />SALARIES <br /> <br />The City Manager reviewed his <br />report submitted to Council <br />regarding the proposed increase <br />iu salaries to the Santa Aha <br /> <br />City Employees. Mr. Richard Kopel, Chamber of Commerce, presented the <br /> <br />Chamber of Commerce report recommending that no increase be given until <br />the entire salary structure could be studied. <br /> <br />Mr. Robert McLeod, 1529 E. Wellington~ representing the firemen and <br />Mr. Ralph De Simone, De Slmone Management Consultants of Los Angeles, <br />representing the City Employees Associatio~ spoke in favor of the City <br />Manager's proposal for salary increases. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 65-1~9 AMENDING SECTIONS 3 AND 3.1 OF RESOLUTION NO. 58-281 was <br />read by title. It was moved by CounciLman Gilmore, seconded by Counc~lm~n <br />Brooks that further reading be waived and Resolution 65-149 be adopted. On <br />roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES, C 0UNC II/4EN: <br />NOES~ COUNCILMEN: <br />ABSENT, COUNC Ik~N: <br /> <br />Gilmore, Brooks, Markel~ Harvey <br />McMichael <br />Burk, Herrin <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Gilmore~ seconded by Councilman Brooks and carried, <br />Council adopted a Minute Order requesting the Personnel Board to study the <br />merit system and report to Council their findings within six months~ noting <br />they should accept assistance of the Chamber of Cmmmerce and the City <br />Employees Association. <br /> <br />RECESS <br /> <br />At 3:~0 p.m. the Mayor declared <br />a five minute recess.
