Wayne Mead, also spoke on behalf of his request. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Brooks, seconded by Councilman Nmrkel and carried~ <br />that the Planning Department be in~ructed to approve Mr. Mead's plans~ <br />provided all C-5 requirements are met. <br /> <br />FORMS & SYSTEMS The City Manager reviewed his previous <br /> report regarding the Chamber of <br /> Commerce recommendation that an <br /> objective study of reporting and <br />forms requirements of the City be made, stating that he recommended employment <br />of Informatics Inc. for not more than $1,000 for a preliminary study toward <br />the possibility of going into a computer system rather than a standardized <br />procedures analysis by a management consultant. <br /> <br />Richard Kopel~ representative of the Chamber of Commerce, stated that the <br />Chamber was in favor of employing a management-consultant firm which could <br />provide a recommendation and offer assistance in changing systems. He estimated <br />cost of a,preliminary study at $5~OO0, 8nd submitted a report containing <br />eight management-consulting firms and four certified public accounting firms. <br /> <br />Mayor Harvey stated no action was necessary at this time~ following considerable <br />discussion. However Councilman Gilmore felt it would do no harm to at least <br />see what would be offered by the firms and moved that the firms listed be <br />requested to send brochures for Council's consideration. The motion was <br />seconded by Councilman Burk and passed with Councilman Markel voting No. Mrs. <br />Janice Boer~ 912 N. Lowell, asked that the brochures be retained until public <br />had an opportunity to see them. She also requested a tape recorder be purchased <br />for meetings. <br /> <br />VARIANCES Councilman Markel asked the City <br /> Manager regarding the policyof <br /> charging for variance applications <br /> for necessities such as gas pumps <br />and canopies for a service station, and the City Manager stated thematter <br />would be studied and a report made to Council. <br /> <br />BUS LIC. TAX <br /> <br />The City Manager's report regarding <br />the business license tax not being <br />ready~ no action was taken. <br /> <br />DRIVEWAY ACCESS <br /> <br />John Kilgore, 1345 S. Bristol~ stated <br />he had been unable to obtain a curb <br />cut after repeated discussions with <br />various city departments, and had <br />been referred to Council for action. Mr. Trax~ Assistant Plaaner, explained <br />the Bristol Street policy to deny a curb cut when there is an alley to the <br />rear providing secondary access. <br /> <br />After consulting with the Public Works Director and the Assistant Planner~ <br />Mr. Kilgore was advised the matter would be placed on the Planning Commission's <br />agenda for 4:00 p.m. on October 25th. <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Gilmore, <br />seconded by Councilman Burk and <br />carried~ Council adjourned to executive <br />session for discussion of a personnel <br />matter at h:22 p.m. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL - 386 - October 18~ 1965 <br /> <br /> <br />
