SOLICITATION REQUESTS It was moved by Councilman Brooks, <br /> seconded by Councilman Bu~k and <br /> carried that the following solicitation <br /> requests be approved, with the deletion <br />of the word "raffles" from the Orange County Zoological Society's request: <br /> <br />The Orange County Association for retarded children for permission to conduct <br />year-round telephone solicitations for usable articles ~o sell in Thrift Shop. <br /> <br />Orange County Zoological Society to solicit funds by radio and newspaper <br />advertisements, personal contacts, and mail to raise $5,000 for construction of <br />a service building for the Prentice Park Zoo. <br /> <br />American Christian Crusade, Inc., for evangelism and Christian training of <br />youth, December 7 to March l, 1966. <br /> <br />EXT. OF TIME A sixth request for a 90 day <br />VARIANCE APPLICATION 1850 extension of time on Variance <br /> Application 1850 granted 12-2-63 <br /> to Goeders & Mark Hospital, Inc. <br />for 30 bed alcoholic convalescent hospital at 3209 W. 5th Street, was considered <br />by Council. It was moved by Councilman Brooks, seconded by Councilman Burk, <br />that the request be denied. The request that the motion be withdrawn by <br />Councilman Brooks was lost because Councilman Burk did not wish to withdraw <br />his second to the motion. Councilman McMichael suggested that the applicant <br />should be granted another extension of time and given notice that this will <br />be the last extension granted. Councilman Markel suggested that the matter <br />be continued %o the next meeting. <br /> <br />The motion to deny extension of time for Variance Application 1850 carried, with <br />Councilman McMichael voting "No". <br /> <br />PRADO DAM CLOSURE It was moved by Councilman Herrin, <br /> seconded by CounciLman Brooks and <br /> carried, that the Resolution by <br /> Board of Water Commissioners of <br />the City of San Bernardino urging support for closure of Prado Dam, be <br />ordered filed. <br /> <br />ST. NAME CHANGE It was moved by Councilman McMichael, <br /> seconded by Councilman Herrin and <br /> carried, that the Orange County <br /> Street Naming Committee recon~endation <br />~hat Dyer Road be changed to Barranca Road, be referred to the Planning <br />Con~nission for review and report. <br /> <br /> ?~ <br />CITIZE/IS ADV. C0~94. It was moved by Councikm~n Brooks~ <br /> seconded by Councilman Herrin and <br /> carried, that the Council approve <br /> the recommendation from the <br />Planning Commission that Certificates of Appreciation be awarded to members <br />of the Citizens Advisory Committee as public acknowledgment of their <br />contributions to the General Plan Program. <br /> <br />PARADE Councilman Markel commented that <br /> the Jr. Chamber of Commerce is <br /> to be commended for the fine <br /> Christmas Parade held December 4, <br />1965, and his suggestion that the Council consider alloting $2,000.00 as the <br />City's contribution to the parade each year in the Parks and Recreation budget <br />was taken under advisement. <br />CITY COUNCIL - 420 - December 6, 1965 <br /> <br /> <br />
