DISTRICT CLASSIFICATION <br />¢ ~ ON AMENDM~ENT APPLICATION <br /> NO. 573 INITIATED BY THE <br />PLANNING COMMISSION AND AMENDING SECTIONAL DISTRICT MAP 7-5-9 (EXHIBIT AA <br />573 A) was read by title. It was moved by Councilman Brooks, seconded by <br />Councilman McMichael and carried, that further reading be waived and <br />Ordinance NS-837 be passed to second reading. <br /> <br />ORD. NS-838 ORDINANCE NS-838 ORDERING, <br />SPECIAL ELECTION CALLING, AND PROVIDING FOR <br />~ A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION <br /> TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, THE 7TH DAY OF JUNE, 1966, FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />SUBMITTING CHARTER AMENDMENTS TO VOTERS OF THE CITY AND ORDERING CONSOLIDATION <br />WITH THE STATEWIDE ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE SAME DAY was introduced by <br />title. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Gilmore, seconded by Councilman Brooks and carried~ <br />Council changed the wording of the last paragraph on the proposed amendment <br />to Section 409 of the Charter to allow a meeting of the Council to be held <br />outside the City Hall if ordered by the Mayor as well as a majority of the <br />members of the City Council. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Burk, seconded by Councilman Brooks and carried, the <br />third measure under Section 3 of the Ordinance was corrected by deleting <br />the words: "... to permit the City Council to follow the provisions of <br />the Election Code of the State of California." <br /> <br />Council discussed whether or nst the limitation to two terms for Board and <br />Commission members would be retroactive. It was moved by Councilman Brooks, <br />seconded by Councilman McMichael, that the proposed amendment of Section <br />901 of the Charter be modified so that any present board member could be <br />reappointed. The motion failed to carry on roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES, COUNCILMEN: <br />NOES, COUNCILMEN: <br />ABSENT, COUNCILMEN: <br /> <br />Brooks, McMichael <br />Gilmore, Burk, Herrin, Markel, Harvey <br />None <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman McMichael, sec c~ded by Councilman Herrin and carried, <br />the first sentence in the last Paragraph of Charter Section 901 was amended <br />to read, "... but in no event shall any person be eligible for reappointment <br />who has served two consecutive terms of four years each." <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Herrin, seconded by Councilman Gilmore and carried, <br />that further reading be waived and Ordinance NS-838 be passed to second reading <br />with these corrections. <br /> <br />RES. 66-31 RESOLUTION 66-31 ACCEPTING <br />DEEDS - NO CASH DEEDS WHERETHE CITY IS <br /> PAYING NO CASH CONSIDERATION <br /> (Mabury (2), Hall-Lyon-Hall, <br />Shane & Lesser, Vasi, Chrysler Motors) was read by title.
