RECESS At 4:17 p.m. the meeting was recessed to 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chamber. The meeting was reconvened at 7:30 p.m. with all C~aucllmen present. Following the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, the Invocation was delivered by The Reverend Leslie F. Chaplain, Goodwill Industries. OATH OF OFFICE CIT~ ATTO~E~ office was a~m~nistered by the Clerk Mayor Narvey announced the appointment of William L. Mock as City Attoraey, effective ~Aly 1, 1966, and the oath of of the Council. ~OL~TION OF APPRECIATION~ Mayor Ear,ay rea~ and presented to Mr. John K. Colwell, a Resolution of Appreciation for his ~i~etean years' service to the City of Santa Aaa as City Attorney. Hearimg was opened on Amez~lment AA 590 - N~w.q Application 590 filed by John Nees, continued fr~a 6-6-66, proposin~ ame-~nt of Sectional District Map 23-5-10 by reclassifying from R 2 to C 5 district property on west side of Bristol betwean Glenwood and Camden Place o pla-~i~g C~amission Reso- lution 5780 rec~ended denial. 'The applicant was present amd discussed hazar~ of backin~ out into Bristol from property amd lack of a~equate parking without being able to use lot which fronts on Camden. Larry Nees, 2309 Lakeside, Orange, co-owner of property on Camden, Joh~ C. Nees, Long Beach, and Narold Fedden, 2219 N. Flower spoke in support of the application. On motion of Councilman Brooks, seconded by Com~ci~m"n Gilmore and carried, Council ordered filed petition with apprex,mately 70 names in favor. Robert L. Forest, 1310 Glenwood Place, Carl Ho Byers, 1305 W. Ca-~en, Sgt. Provey, 1~02 W. Glenwo(El, a~d Ralph Seeley, !30~ Glenwoo~ Place~ expresse~ opposition to rezoning. There being mo further testimony,, the M~yor declared the hearing closed. At the re,nest of the Mayor, the Clerk rea~ the ad~lreS~es 'on the petition submitted in favor. COuacilman McMichael explained the P]-~tng Commission's policy not to re- zone side-on lots when Bristol was rezoned. It was moved by Couacilman Mc~chael, seconded by Councilman Burk and carried, that COUncil deny the reclassification. ST. VACATI(~ - MAYW00D Hearing was announced on proposed v~cation of portion of Maywood Avenue, east of Yale Street, continued from 6-6-66.
