appears to be the only recourse left to the City. <br /> <br />Asked by Councilman Herrin why additional park space is needed, the City <br />Manager explained that the other ten acres would be developed much like <br />other parks in the City adjacent to schools; that this land was needed for <br />tennis courts in which Santa Ana is far below other cities of comparable <br />size. Councilman Griset commented there is not much use of the courts at <br />Valley High. Mayor McMichael noted that Santa Ana has been ruled out for <br />tennis tourns~nents because of a shortage and the distance between courts. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Brooks, seconded by Councilman Thurman, that the <br />resolution be adopteds waiving further reading. On roll call vote: <br /> <br /> AYES: Councilmen Brooks, Carlson, Griset, Markel, Thurman, <br /> McMichael <br /> <br />NOES: Councilman Herrin <br /> <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />ENCROACHMENT AGREEMENT On motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded <br /> by Councilman Thurman and carried, Council <br /> approved and authorized execution of <br />agreement with Kennedy Outdoor Advertising Company and Jesus S~to regardimg <br />two encroaching signs at 2204-06 West 5th Street. <br /> <br />TRAFFIC SIGNAL AGBk~E~T On motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded <br /> by Councilman Thurman and carried, Council <br /> approved and authorized execution of <br />agreement with County of Orange for traffic signals at Warner and Grand. <br /> <br />MD~i~JAL WATER SYSTEM On motion of CounciLman Herrin, seconded <br /> by Councilman Thurman and carried, Council <br /> approved and authorized execution of an <br />agreement to purchase a mutual water system on the east side of Euclid Street <br />north of Hazard Avenue. <br /> <br />ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES On motion of Councilman Herrin, seconded <br /> by Councilman Thurman and carried, Council <br /> approved and authorized execution of <br />agreement with Burrows and Allen for architectural services in connection with <br />the first units of a fire station and training facility on Dyer Road at Grand. <br /> <br />CIVIC CEI~ER On motion of Councilman Griset, seconded <br />LAND ACQUISITION by Councilman Carlson and carried, Council <br /> approved and authorized execution of <br />amendment to agreement of October 7, 1964, with County of Orange to authorize <br />Orange County Department of Real Property Services to act as agent for the <br />City in the filing and prosecution of condemnation proceedings in the Civic <br />Center area when requested by the City. <br /> <br />The Manager reported on the status of acquisition of properties in the Civic <br />Center area and noted the action to be taken under this amendment would be <br />on condemnation of John R.
